Full Throttle's web site advertise I can get away with a 2800 stall on this turbo. (GT 6162) I want to make sure that's enough with the bolt on's in sig. If anyone can throw me a bone I would greatly appreciate it. I want it to spool as fast as it can, so I don't want to go wrong with the converter.

Who's Stall and What size (10',12',9') woud also be greatly appreciated

I have a journal bearing 6152 with the 2800 10 PTC that Dusty is talking about and mine spools perfect. I love mine.

 I have been interested in the BB 6162 but from what I hear unless you add more then 18lbs of Boost then the 6162 will outshine Turbo's like the TE-44.Is this true at 18lbs of Boost or will there be minimal difference in power between these 2 Turbo's at 18lbs Boost:confused:

I had a 6152bb unit for a little bit. Stock convertor spooled it like mad!

Check the sig for times, that was at 16lbs and pump gas

The addition of some good gas and more boost should have put it into the 11's easily. Never got the chance, bearing let go and started rebuild and further upgrades.

When I was in the market for the new convertor there was only need to make one call, thanks DB!!

12.36 is a pretty good time with only 16lbs Boost and pump gas.I was wonderingif that was 93 octane or lower?? If it can go that fast on pump gas then why wouldn't a 6162 Turbo feel stronger all over on the street:confused:

It was 93 octane and the car dead hooked leaving at around 10 psi.

Overall it ran great on the street, spool up was very fast.

I had some bottom end problems from day one that surfaced quickly as we brought more power to the table. In the end I think it was me not listening to Randy and running it all out with the electric dump open.

With a good tune and a good motor to start with, you should have alot of fun with the bb unit.

I believe my stall converter is a modified D5 2800 Stall converter.I doubt that the stock converter would worg great with the 6162.The other thing it seems that when guy's go above a TE-44 Turbo engine's seem to go a whole lot quicker,In a previous thread all the guy's were telling me that if your not going to race it you will not feel any difference in power at the same Boost level's with the 6162 over the TE-44.Are they wrong:confused:

Sorry, internet has been down for hurricane.

People think I'm nuts when I say the stock convertor spooled as hard as it did, but it really was very impressive. Needless to say, the 2800 should be more than adequate for the bb unit.

As far as power difference at the same boost level, really not sure. I don't have any basis for comparison. I went directly from stock to the 6152. It would make sense that the same boost level is going to feel the same. I really can't say anyone is wrong for making that statement. I will say if there is a question, just go with the larger bb unit and I doubt you will be disappointed. Like I have been told many times in the past few months, you won't regret going ahead and going bigger.

The reason the engines seem to go quicker is probably more in the tune than the turbo. I can say that was definetly the case for me. Something about turning up the boost I just couldn't stop myself from doing. Guess I learned my lesson the hard way.

Well as stated in previous posts and threads. I have personal expierence with both the 44 and the 6152. I can't compare 16psi to 16psi because I have never had either of them at that boost level. I can certainly compare 25psi to 25psi. They both pulled very hard except the 6152 continues to pull where the 44 falls off. I have been back to the track since the swap, but the converter was too loose. I have not been back since tightening up the converter. I will be shortly so I can give you some real time data. With the 44 I am certain I could have pushed into the 11's no problem. I was knocking on the door with a fat tune. I popped the head gasket which was a tuning error on my part. That is the only reason I made the change to the 6152. I figured since it was apart I would p&p the heads and intake. If you push the 44 it has 11's all day. I am hoping for deep 11's with the 6152. I wish you all the luck and I would strongly recommend adding alky and turning up the boost:biggrin:
