The header in question is the driver's side
Studs - with plenty of washers for the various "things"

My guess is that it went through the combustion process. Damn!
It would be a good guess - if you knew what it was from.
If not - still a guess.

That was my next thought, maybe in the up pipe to the throttle body, through the combustion chamber many times until it was spit out....

Bryan

Yeah - again.
Super.
But that would imply it came from somewhere on the upstream side of things.
As a matter of course, I don't usually toss washers in my cold air intake to see where they end up on the other side.

I suppose it could have come from just about anywhere.
I don't believe in concidences though.
I'm suspecting somewhere in that header gasket change process a washer got loose.

Do you think I should pull my motor tonight and tear it down to see if I can see any damage? :D
If I started right now - I might have it out and torn down by breakfast time.

Maybe that was the source of my false KR? :D

Or it might have been the DP hitting the back top side of the upper A arm.
I dunno.

I think instead of tearing the motor out and apart - I will probably inspect the turbo, slap its stupid butt back on - and go for a nice drive in this beautiful weather tomorrow. :D

With studs and washers on the headers and a gasket change, I would suspect the washer was dropped in the header at that time. I wouldnt think a tear down was necessary...
I bet the turbo spins freely now huh...LOL

I'm with ya.

LOL - but remember dood.
It spun before.
It just locked up when I started the motor.
It was tricking me! :D
We thought it had some weird thrust seize thing going on.

I can see how that little piece of gasket could have been blown over to the turbo from the driver's side - but I'm a little surprised that a washer also could be.
I might need to install a p-trap or a filter prior to my turbine if this is going to be a regular event! :D

Or like a big old sewer grate - but for turbines.

Tell me about that little bit of oil on the compressor side.
Bad?
Semi - normal?
Not...?

LMAO............A P trap on the crossover !!!

Put the bitch back together and go for a drive

That is precisely what this boy is going to do in the AM.
:D

I have this sayin' about these cars
"They're not fragile but they sure are finicky"

How about rare earth magnets all over the headers and crossover....

Bryan

Bryan

Yeah - a super conducting field around the crossover where all metal is instantly stuck to the sides of the pipe.
Like in science fiction movies.
That's the ticket.
Does Casper's sell such a thing? :D

Now tell me your opinion about the oil in the compressor side dangit.
First post above has the pics.

It is starting to sink in that my buddy might just be a "hack"
Semi-kidding of course.
Semi.
I drop washers and nuts all the time, and only hope that I hear a click on the garage floor.
When I don't - I'm like - crap - now I have to start feeling around up in there or put it on the shaker table.

The seal is probably shot....if it spins freely take it for a spin, should boost up, probably smoke like hell though. At least you will will know how she runs. Then send it to Bison for a rebuild.

Bryan

It ain't gonna smoke anymore than I have in this process. :D

It seemed like the oil came out when I shook the turbo like hell.
But of course, that is silly talk.

Won't you be chagrined when I slap that b back on, start it up, it is a clean tailpipe, and I'm back in the saddle.
But you've been with me every step of the way with your moral support. :D
A boy can dream...;)

Go give it hell !!!
You already have to do a spring cleaning now...pull the IC and clean it out, up pipe, throttle body, etc

Good luck to you !!

Bryan

And the 3/8" check valves arrived in the mail this week for the PCV.
So we ain't gonna have any of that dumb boost blow by thru the PCV any longer.

And the vacuum block gaskets - courtesy of TurboClam.
And a new IAC gasket.
All boost leaks will be vanquished.

You forgot to mention...."and don't drop any washers in while you're doing that" :D
