Hey everyone. I was just wondering if I should do anything to my stock tranny in my 85 GN when I start upgrading parts? I'm not going crazy just alittle more hp ....... 42.5# injectors, walbro pump with hot wire kit, turbo tweak 5.7 chip in an 87 ECM, adj. fuel pressure, etc. Any info would b great! Also does a shift kit improve a tranny?

If you are adding more power, it is recommended to install a shift kit, but it will not fix a damaged transmission or should it be used as a band aid. If the trans is in good working order and does not slip, it would be a good idea. Also a trans cooler would be a worth while investment. I can design a custom shift kit for you if you are interested. Retail kits are not worth the money IMO.

Thanks for giving me some info I really appreciate it. As far as slipping it doesn't. The car sat for a really long time in my wife's aunt's garage(almost 20 years) and I am just gathering up parts for it now. Nothing has been installed yet but I was worried that if I added another probably 100-150 hp that I might damage the trans or the rear. So roughly what would it cost for u to build something like that for me? And should I do a shift kit or wait for ur upgrade? Thanks again, Steve

Hi Steve, please contact me at the shop and I can discuss your post and pricing with you.
