What turbo?

Im contemplating upgrading my stock turbo. By searching around ive found that a ta 49, a 44, or a gt3255e would best suit my application. Im not sure, but isn't there some converting that needs to be done to get a gt turbo to work where my stock turbo did? If so what is involved. Also i might have found a gt3255e for around $500 shipped, Is that a good deal and would it be worth it?

I upgraded to the 3255 and love it,it worked good with the stock converter and better with a 2800 stall, great street turbo spools fast for light to light, i think i paid around $800 new but that was a year ago, see my mods below, other turbos may support more hp ,but around town, this is an awesome choice, i love the spool up, depends what you want , i like that hard pull on the street with out waiting for the spool up, others may be bigger but street lights are not 1/2 of a mile apart.

I have a GT6152 in my car and it is a direct swap. Great turbo IMHO and the lag is plenty to live with and I still am on a stock converter. I have a 3000 stall waiting to go in though.
