Just wondering about the best oil to use with the turbo motor? I use Mobil 1 Synth as a rule in my other cars. Just wanting some opinions. Vehicle has 30,000 miles. :)

I think consensus would be just about any quality oil will do as long as you're religious when it comes to changing it.

As for me, right now I have Kendall GT-1 in the GN.

MOBIL 1

Do a SEARCH on oil...lots & lots of info in archives.

From lots of prior threads & polls, it appears about 75% of respondents use your favorite, Mobil 1.

HTH :)

mobil 1 synthetic 10w30 multi vehicle formula here...been using it for 30k miles so far and no problems...change it every 3000 miles

the best oil for your car is what its been using, if you switch oils you have the risk of washing off the bases on the metal and causeing engine wear so stick with what your using.

I have run conventional 5W-30 since the car was new. No problems. I change it every 1500 miles or so. I don't drive the car much though.

I was told by two reputable Buick engine builders (who are not associated) that Mobil 1 has recently been reformulated and now contains substantially less anti-wear additives.
Kendall GT-1 is highly recommended, as are Royal Purple and Red Line.
As mentioned previously, there are numerous threads on this topic.

I refuse to pay $5 a qt. for mobile 1 motor oil. I would have more money spent on oil than anything else on the car.

I use pennzoil 10w40 and change every 1500-2000 miles.;)

Put your money saved in parts... it adds up quickly.

Any oil is good as long as you change it frequently.

I love the light yellow apearance of the Lucas synthetic 10W30. looks like liquid GOLD

Red line uses the most expensive Group V polyolester base stocks

I also like Dyson synergyn 3W30 and OW20 , as the new moble one OW20

Regards

Pennzoil, 10w30:) No oil leaks either. With the synthetic I would have a little leak somewhere, all the time

I head once a long time ago. That if you change your oil every 1000 miles your engine is almost indestructable. Now I don't think that rule applies to moddified engines. I believe that natural oil will work just as good if changed often. Also you have the benifts of no oil leaks like you do with synetics.

$00.99 a quart on sale at K-MART

mobile oil 10w-40

its NOT synthetic, and i have nice clean engines inside and out.

and bulk oil filters at napa, and im for less than 7 bucks for a oil change :)

i use the syntec blends in my car...I vary brands(whatever is on sale) but I have had and heard many bad things about full synthetic....well not BAD things but they cause leaks, I guess b/c they are soo slick or slimey or whatever you want to call it....have had no problems w/ the syntec blends tho....i think I may go back to the supe cheap stuff and just change it very often like recommended above...whatever makes ya happy i guess

I use Castrol Syntec here. (naturally I would considering my nickname is JR:D ) Always changed religiously. But I definintely would not recommend mix different brands, each type has its own specific chemical properties and are not compatiable. Hope all the info helps!
