Changing the filter and have been using dexron II but with all new types which is the best for me, just normal driving does not see the track but has had the trans rebuilt with a shift kit anyone on this?

so its ok just to use it with the filter change and with the dexron II still in the trans its ok to mix the 2, I guess is what ,I am asking.

if you have dexron 2 in there i would just drain and fill with dex 6

Theres been a bunch of debate lately about transmission fluid you may want t read the arguments for your self and pick your fluid based on what you feel is right for you.

Since DEX II was the ATF recommended in the 80's for GM vehicles, there have been many upgrades since, and DEX VI is now the choice of many tranny builders as it has MUCH greater tolerance to heat.

Personal experience with street and strip cars have shown excellent results as compared to any earlier fluids.

The race cars are very hard on fluid, and DEX VI can last as long as a full season compared to a few race events with other fluids.

The worst results with the different types of ATF has been when using Type F in TH400's and 200r-4's.

GM has stated it is backwards compatible with older DEX fluids.

Dex 3 or 6 or Valavoline High Mileage for a 3rd choice, just my opinion on the Valvoline, thanks

Ron
