Cork valve cover gaskets with 'Rite Stuff' on both sides of the gasket will stop leaking. Also, on some after market valve covers for our buicks, the retaining bolts can bottom out just before they are tight.
Beat me to it...exactly what was said above, cork with "right stuff" black rtv and you should be fine. Also, make sure to not overtighten the bolts, no gasket int he world will seal if you overtighten the bolts.
Torque Spec for valve covers is around 44 inch-pounds. If you use the Right Stuff RTV and dont overtighten, I guarantee they wont leak.
I'm really not sure if the valve covers are stock or not.
How would I know?
Thanks again
Funny you should say that. My GN1's just got here and I'm not particularly happy with the gasket surface. I may see if they can be cleaned up a tad.Can you post a pic of what you have? Some of the aftermarket covers are pretty bad when it comes to sealing...the gasket surface is cast and not machined flat. Normally the cork gaskets work well.
