I have just removed the valve cover and replaced the gasket with a PermaDry Plus.
Now the Valve cover leaks so bad I can't drive the car.
What other type of gasket would be good to use?
Thanks for any advice.

I had to change gaskets this Summer and used some Remflex this time. They seem to have done the trick. No leaks so far. Read the instructions and don't crush them. Otherwise pretty good seal. If you can't find them locally, Mark sells them.
Gaskets

near as i can tell remflex doesnt make a valve cover gasket which is what we are talking about here

for his application (champ irons) the permadry is the perfered gasket , install dry and dont overtorque

if that doesnt do it the std felpro cork (vs51065c) have been working fine for me glued to the cover , or you could try the felpro 1600 (thick cork )

Sorry, my bad. Had exhaust gaskets on my mind. Brain malfunction. My apologies.

I've always used the cork gasket and haven't had any issues. Check your alignment and try not to over torque them.

Are these with stock valve covers? How about TA covers same gaskets?

I'm really not sure if the valve covers are stock or not.
How would I know?
Thanks again

correction on the part #s
, the felpro cork std VS50156C ,
VS50156T is the permadry silicone on steel
Vs50156R is the rubber and never had good luck with those

Cork valve cover gaskets with 'Rite Stuff' on both sides of the gasket will stop leaking. Also, on some after market valve covers for our buicks, the retaining bolts can bottom out just before they are tight.

Beat me to it...exactly what was said above, cork with "right stuff" black rtv and you should be fine. Also, make sure to not overtighten the bolts, no gasket int he world will seal if you overtighten the bolts.

Do you happen to know the torque specs? This past year I have had nothing but problems with valve cover gaskets leaking and it is driving me crazy. I will certainly use the "right stuff" rtv sealer.
BTW - Thanks for the good advice!

Torque Spec for valve covers is around 44 inch-pounds. If you use the Right Stuff RTV and dont overtighten, I guarantee they wont leak.

Can you post a pic of what you have? Some of the aftermarket covers are pretty bad when it comes to sealing...the gasket surface is cast and not machined flat. Normally the cork gaskets work well.

Funny you should say that. My GN1's just got here and I'm not particularly happy with the gasket surface. I may see if they can be cleaned up a tad.

Funny you should say that ;) That's one of the covers I was referring to. Mine leaked like crazy! Put them on a mill and machined the gasket surface. No more leaks

I replaced my valve cover gaskets before the summer ended, and I also had PermaDry Plus. I didn't use them since placing the gasket on the covers I saw they would not fit correctly just by having two wiper blades resting on the narrow surface of the heads. Also with the PermaDry Plus I would had to cut the inner corner section of the gasket in order to fit the valve covers.I did used Victor's Reinz gasket (#VS39763TC). This valve gasket is made of thin metal sandwich between two cork material, ( I place a Little of RTV on the cover side so it won't move when installed). I don't know if all GN valve covers are the same, you would think they would be, but they are not. I had to use a hand grinder to trim off a little around the gasket holes. No leaks, until about a month later I though my valve covers were leaking only to find it was my rear main seal was leaking.
