My "tractor haha" mechanic has a GM scanner I can use that shows me a LOT more than a scanmaster,,,but yes a scanmaster will be bought Monday when I return. Damn the pressure is getting bad here

Tech 1 Tech 2 been there done that. They are great to set-up the car, however try driving with a small suite case on your lap with 22PSI of boost You will be in the cornfields out there

FP and HW are the way to go.
If your mechanic has issues with dropping the tank on your TTA find another one. A mechanic who has experience with the f-body cars can re & re a tank, install the FP kit and flush the tank in 3 hours. Given the age of your vehicle it would be wise to clean / flush the tank before installing a new pump.
