Driving through town the other day and noticed a beat up grand national sitting in one of the local dealerships, I'm in love with these cars and always wanted one. So i call the dealer where its at and ask about the car, now remember i said this was a beat up gn, not pristine by any means. problems that i seen with car visually were

-rear wheel wells starting to rust around the lip
-front bumper was a bit crooked, and must have been hit
-side door was missing the molding
-was cheaply paint which is all full of chips/faded/bubbling in some spot
-only had 3 original gn wheels which were not chrome anymore but rusty, donut on the front
-exhaust looked to be crooked
-interior was a bit dirty nd drivers seat had a small tear

anyways like i said i call the dealer and inquire about it, its got 260k's+ but a new motor, tranny were recently put in it....i asked how much and he said 10,000cdn.......now i know these cars can fetch alot of coin but this needed alot of work, iv seen them go for 10,000cdn in really nice shape with mint exterior/interiors.....now i know some fetch 20,000 but were talking 50,000km pristine all original cars, any thoughts about what you would pay for it?

i'd pay up to 5k american for it. i payed two for mine it's an 87 and the entire car is crap and needs everything gone through but i'ts what i wanted and could afford. cracked block rotted drivers side floor, you name it.

the cars body is beat up, underbody looked fine, interior needs work and it runs decent..........i might see if hell do a trade for a 95 gmc jimmy 2dr 4x4 which is extremely mint.....i need a gn!

I'd offer him $1000 and part that beotch out. You could get at least $100 for the steering wheel and grill. :)

PASS! You would end up spending more to fix it up than you would buying a GN in better condition.

Based on your description, and lack of interior shots, I MIGHT pay 2k US for it. That thing looks and sounds like it's a huge money pit.

I would RUN from that car.

260,000 KM. Claimed new motor?

It was never taken car of. Look for major issues non stop.

That POS is'nt anything more than a parts car.

Save your money and your sanity. Find something in good shape unless your masochistic.

+1, body work and fixing rust is expensive. Unless you know how to do it yourself and are looking to restore it, it's going to take a lot of money to have it fixed.

$10,000?!?!?!?

I have a friend with a 50,000 mile GN that is asking $10,500. If you have to have one right now talk to a banker and get a straight car. There are good cars and good deals out there. Ya might have to drive a long way but it will be way worth it, compared to buying a complete POS

Rearend of that car has definitely been hit/redone, as noted above, the taillights are incorrect (silver trim) and the bumper pad is not original (white pinstripe)

Buy it and part it out, but not for CDN$10k - that's an insane asking price!

yeah im definatly not going to buy it, i noticed alot of thigns wrong.....the rear tailights, no badges, chrome rear 1/4 window, etc,etc.........if i ever did buy it the body work wouldnt be a problem cause my old man owns a body shop, but still i could only imagine how hacked up the wiring etc in this thing would be. People are crazy asking 10g's for that

I wonder why it's got chrome around the 1/4 windows?

I'm willing to bet that if a carfax was done on this car it may have been stolen & stripped down at some point. Someone probably just put some chrome pieces on it to get it sold

damn i wish i had carfax, i wanna know the history of this car and find out why it seems so fishy
