Just curious as a lot of these cars have been coming up missing.Ill start:

Paid $7500
Agreed upon Ins value $15,000

What about you??Everyone's ins value should be a substantial bit more than you can sell the car for.

I paid $8,500 for it 6 years ago. I've dropped well over $10K into it. It's insured for $24K.

poor college guy that traded a 66 GTO for his...can barely afford anything but liability right now....much less keep it running so I have transportation!

from what my ins agent of 15 years told me you can have 1 million $ of ins on it but they wont pay it. then you just threw all that $ out the window, we paid $15,750 7 years ago, our policy covers the car for $17,000 guaranteed value, no excuses no bs, if this car is totaled we get $17,000 no questions asked.

I bought my car for $10,700 about 5 years ago, and its insured for like $23,000 through State Farm. They pay NADA high retail, unless otherwise agreed upon. I was going to have my car appraised for insurance purposes, but its not like it would appraise for more than that anyway. Of course, I have waaaay more than $23K in it now..............

I even went into State Farms claims office and asked exactly what I would be paid in the event my car were stolen or totaled. She looked it up on the NADA website right in front of me, and said thats what they pay. I reccommend everyone do this, just to be sure, because so many times companies treat these cars like regular regals. Its also helpful to make sure your not "upside down" in the car too bad, owing more than they'd pay if its stolen or whatever.

I paid $15,550 when I bought it new in 1986 (Sticker was $18,880). My insurance company (USAA) said its worth $13,500. I looked into "classic car" insurance, but after reading the policies, it appears my car would only be covered when at home, driving to or from a car function or at a car function. It would be hit or miss if they would cover me on a weekend pleasure cruise, and if the car were stolen from the grocery store or damaged on the rare occasion that I drive it to work - forget about it.
