I didn't want to just paint over my old beat up black trim with any old paint, so I experimented on some chrome trim I had laying around. I used a Laquer Flat Black and it looks like I just sprayed the parts with primer. Is there a good paint I can use to get a little more luster like my old trim has?

Thanks. It seems like Semi-Gloss black is the right tone. I guess that includes the headlight bezels too which are currently flat black on my car.

paint

Actually what you want to use is called satin black . . kirban sells some of this, but you can find it most places.

Sounds like Eastwoods Underhood Black might me the right sheen for this kind of stuff. Which is perfect for just what it is named for. Nothing else looked right. But it does have that eggshell semi gloss look to it like the stock trim does.

Thanks, actually, the semi gloss laquer is used looks awesome. The trim has a satin look to it.
I was looking at my brothers GN and his head light bezels are flat black and they are new. Are the headlight bezels supposed to be flat black?

The headlight bezels are satin black. Most spray can products are flat, and tend to not hold up to weather. I redid my black trim in base/clear, but with a flattening agent in the clear, but I am a painter. I just bought new headlight bezels. Rust oleum satin black dries satin, and stays wet enough to lay down smooth. It is the closest I have found. Take it for what it is worth, opinions and results may very.

Thanks and like I said, the spray can "semi gloss" I used looks great but it's not cheap for a can and they go fast. I'm on my third can already just painting trim.
BTW forcefed3.8s, is that a hot air 85 you are running the 12.5@106 with?

Yes it was hot air. This was back in 2001 with a stock turbo, 21lbs of boost, 112 octane, alot of timing, and an uncapped stock dp.
