Hi Im new here,Ive been around Grandnationals my whole life my dad and uncle have had them since I was a baby and heck my grandma had one for a long time.BUT i never really knew all about them till now.

Im thinking of buying one VERY soon so if you have one for sale PM me.

I want to get the car down into the low 11's Maybe even high 10's.
streetable I want to be able to go out to a drive in movie but still have a reliable FAST national.

Im thinking of a

GT6131 turbo
Alky chip
Razor GN alky kit

Thats my start.so far I like the Alky pump gas concept.Seems to get you allot for cheap.I like the GT6131 turbo because you can still use a stock converter if you choose.

What else would be good? this is my start now what would you guys do?Best bang for buck and enough to get me into the low 11's high 10's?

I don't have a GN so I am not the best person to ask this question but I am putting those basic parts 6131bb/alky on my Syclone. I have a larger stall 2800 rpm, but Syclone's have a 0.85 turbo exhaust housing vs the TurboBuick 0.63 or 0.82 Anyways from I have read low 11's on sticky tires is what you expect from a maxed out 6131, IMO that is plenty fast for the street. You seem to be on the right track, but don't under estimate tuning.

def. keep on readin up! look at alot of the different combos on peoples signatures and the times they r running and that should give u a good idea as to what u will need to do! dont be afraid to ask any questions!

oh and have ur wallet readily available it will add up fast!

Id like to find one for around 9,000 and Ill have about another 4000 to put into it.

My dad tells me to take my time b/c a grandnational is plenty fast to start he said ''dont worry people who know what they are looking at wont give you funny looks'' lol.He also told me sometimes it takes people a year to built the car they want or more.And allot of the time its up on a jack instead of out on the road.(not just fixing it up but fixing it)

Buy a low 11 or high 10 second GN for 15k. That will get you there. Keeping it there is another issue....

These cars are fun to drive because they are different and make good power with a mild manner motor.

Turbo regals are not good cars for a new street racer learning the ropes of cars and motors. These cars are not forgiving, and if pushed with the wrong air/fuel parameters, than a person with less budget will have a nice driveway ornament. You must excersise self restraint and no when to say when.
The learning curve is steep and most do not learn enough before going through at least one engine rebuild, then on there 2nd rebuild you learn that your friendly neighborhood mechanic lacks the knowledge of building a reliable turbo V6 that makes good power. Then you must go looking for the few engine builders that are capable and learn the lesson of "paying for what you get". Ideally, if a person was smart enough they could learn from the lessons shared on these forums and other places, but most learn from experience, which is expensive.

Here is a short list of advice for New comers.
1. Tune is everything.
2. Do not push the car until you are fully confident that it is mechanically sound to absorb the abuse.
3. Learn to work on the car yourself. These cars are quite old now minor and major things are going to come up. Save yourself labor charges on everything short of a short block, which takes pro-experience.
4. Reading is a must. Learn to seperate the Chicken salad from the chicken Sh*t.
5. Learn from others mistakes.
6. Do not make a upgrade choice unless the widget you buy will exceed you HP goals. i.e. do not buy 3 turbos, try and make 1 purchase or you will regret it are loose money when you want to go faster.
