Whats needed to make a vega manual....

steering box work. I have an s10 box on now that is old and has play in it and I'm looking to get rid of it. Heard some use a vega manual box. What is the best manual setup? Thanks

are you talking about a new box in a vega? or swapping out the power steering in your TR for manual?

that I know of, there are 2 options besides the S10 box

TRZ rack and pinion setup
or
flaming river's 16:1 box.

both are supposed to be very good.

Have you adjusted the lash in it at all? It's not hard and this may be your problem.

If you lookd at the top of the gear box you'll see a diamond shaped cover with a bolt and nut arangement on the top of it. Loosen the nut and tighten the shaft until the slack is taken out of the gear box. If you get it too tight it will bind and back it off 1/8 turn at a time.

Why not go with another S10 box if it did the job right?
