When I purchased the car there was nothing in side the black plastic cylinder looking thing mounted to the firewall next to the heater core. What is supose to be inside this piece.

sounds to me like all the air conditioning has been taking out of it

I don't know man. Mine doesn't have one. If it did, it certainly wouldn't be that clean.

Thank you for posting it for me. I guess it was put on by the previous owner unless someone else knows what it is.

Having owned 4 TRs, I'm guessing it isn't a stock part.

BTW, your firewall looks "odd". Can you post a picture of the whole heater and A/C area - it may help us give you better information.
