Took my son to Wal-Mart tonight to get a few things and get out of the house since it was raining. Stopped by the dairy section to get a couple of gallons of milk but about fell over when I saw a price of 3.24 for the cheap 1% milk. This is Wal-Mart! I don't think there is a shortage of cows because out where I live the cows are plentiful. I know the grocery store where we usually get milk its up to about 2.80. Anyone know whats going on?

Not only that, but Stamp prices are going up as well. When I asked the lady at my PO, she said it was because of gas price increases.

alternative fuels- corn which is used to feed cows is now being used more for fuel, supply and demand, most likely all dairy products will have a price increase.

This is the reason. New biodiesel fuels needing corn. Herd it more than one place.
This all makes sense. I didn't put the corn with the cow. If it wasn't for the alternative fuels we would pay higher fuel prices because of oil. Now we are just going to pay high prices for dairy products because of corn being used in alternative fuels. I guess the price of corn nuts will be increasing too. This altenative fuel hasn't lowered gas prices here or anywhere. Gas just hit 3.19 for regular unleaded here last week. They, whoever they may be are just going to make us pay no matter what because they can. Its just depressing.
I wonder how much the Amish worry about this stuff? They don't have electricity, phone, nor do they have an automobile. They seem pretty happy and close knit. We visited Holmes county ohio (Amish country) a few years ago, and that was a neat experience to see the Amish. I could be Amish, I would just have to change my last name to Yoder or Miller. Thats what most of the names on the mailboxes had on them up there. Get me a buggy with six horses and put a power 6 on the back of the buggy.
