when should the tranny change gears

ok last wed night I was at the strip
and was having some minor difficulties with some things
so I had called Eric Schertz that night, and he took a guess at my problem and suggested maybe the trans was shifting too late
so he instructed me what to do, by pushing that button in and moving the cable

well I did that, but by accident I pushed it too many "clicks" ahead and I went to pull it back and pulled it back too many randoms clicks

so I figured I am going to have to try trial and error before it gets right

now when I adjust it, am I looking for shift points at WOT or just like I am cruising?
if so what RPM should the trans shift at when at WOT or just about 1/4 throttle

To quote the speed shift chart in the service manual:

Minimum throttle upshift points for a BR 200-4R

1-2 @ 14 mph
2-3 @ 22 mph
3-4 @ 43 mph

WOT shifts should be 5000-5500 Start cable adjust by pushing it all the way back toward the fire wall and pull the throttle wide open by hand, that is factory, you shouldn't have to adjust more than a click or 2 from there.
