Time for some new tires. what do you guys recommend? There's a topic on gnttype.org about using 275/50/15s. I think Ivan is using them too. would I need rim spacers? do I have to roll the fenders? And who, locally, would have it in stock to buy from at the cheapest possible price? So far, BFGoodridge are the only guys that make them. Anyone else makes them?

Aloha,
Chris

Hey Chris I still have my Centerlines that i'm selling if you are interested with 275 drags on the rear.

I think the 275's with you stock rim might be too wide. The Import race I had the stock 84 T-Type rims with 26x10's Mickey's and it rubbed in side of the fender well. The MT's is 10" wide, 275's is 10.5" wide.

The tires rub a little on cornering. Some aluminum drums would clean it up without needing spacers I think. Costco charged about $97 a piece plus mounting which was pretty cheap. It is not a stock item though.

Jackson: Greg and I talked about buy them. So...pretty soon...mayber after taxes. But I need something to use on the street. Drag Radials in the rain arent fun.

Ivan: How long was the wait at Costco to get the tires in? $97 is pretty cheap.

I guess I have to get my rear fenders rolled.

hey chris....
our dealership has connections with tire companies....let me know if you want me to price you a set of 4 or 2 tires....dont know if we have the lowest rates which you can always price around

i think the only companies we do not deal with are firestone/bridgestone (explorer/expedition recalls) and the other generic brands....but are able to get bf goodrich good yr and michelin

Chris check out Larry's rim and tire. I got my 235 BFG"s comp T/A's from them for $120 ea. (and thats cheap!) and did not pay for shipping took about a week, they bring it in a container load of tires from the company in California.

I have 275/50-15's on the rear with the stock GN wheels on my car now. Have had them for a few years. They fit great for me. I'm about to go to 275-35-18's in the rear. My new wheels are in transit right now! :D I'm still probably selling my tires/wheels when I get the new ones on if anyone is interested.

I've come down to what I think is as opportunity. A friend of mines is selling 16" Welds Pro-Stars, with tires and hub spacer/addapter for the rear for $400. The tires are in good shape, minor cracking but it still has a lot of tread. I think they're 16x7 fronts with 215/50/16s and the rear are 16x8 with 255/50/16s.

Still wish I could use some 275/50/15s. **hint**Jackson**hint**:D, I've talked to Greg, looks like we're getting them when our tax refunds get in.

tires

BFG, costco, rons, lex brodies but in actuality, cost comes out about the same as mail order from tirerack.com, they will qoute prices with shipping.

Tirerack is the same as costco for BFGs except at costco you don't pay for shipping. Rons tends to be higher than tirerack + UPS second day air. Its not the same for everything though. Usually rons is at least a $20 price difference from costco unless they have a sale.

Try giving Larry's rim and tire in Waipahu, I did look around, Tire Rack, E-tires, Ron's and also discounted through Sears, Larry's was still alot cheaper.

Costco was about the same or a little more but Larry's took about a week.
