I called summit today but they dont have a 10 point kit only a 8 point roll cage kit.I called comp.engineering and they said they dont make a 10 point, only a 8.Is there anyone that makes a 10 point cage kit or am I forced to buy the 8.PLEASE HELP!

Are you doing the install yourself?

If not, go to the local race shop and have them build you one. You will find that most of the kits are just bars, that don't really fit, so the installer spends more time fixing the kit than he would have if he had done a custom kit.

jegs has a 10 pt but I am not sure if I would recommend it. I know the side bars are straight and they do not fit well like that and the rear bars are the same. If you are installing and can do a lot of fine tuning it can be a good kit I suppose. I have looked at it for a while but not convinced myself to go for it yet. I am also not sure if it is a body mounted or frame mounted (it needs to go to the frame)

with that said my buddy has a mustang with the jegs kit and it went in pretty easy

if you really need a 10 point cage (implies a 7.99 and faster car), it will need to be certified by NHRA to run the car....there are no kits that will meet that certification........go to a fabricator and have one built to spec

Yes I will be doing the install myself.I am proficient at welding and metal fabrication.I have access to all types of metal working equipment.I was looking for a shortcut,I didn't want to fabricate any more tha necessary. Thanks for the input guy's,I guess the next question would be anyone order a 8 point kit from comp.enginerring, and did you happen to note the wall thickness of the tubing? Thanks again.:)

Woody.
I dont ever want to go that fast. This is for a low 10 sec.car.I just want to have some fun but be safe doing it.I revert back to more is better, especially in saftey equipment.

contact Ernie McDaniel in Fla.........check the archives or I'm sure many can provide the info (I have one in my car) you only need a 5 point bar to 9.99......overkill may not be so good in this case unless you really want to cut up your car

kits are no good from Summit, etc...all you get is a bunch of pipe

the main thing is a proper install

azgn,
Who is the guy from florida?DOes he sell a kit for these cars?I guess I must say this roll cage will not be for a street car nor am I worried about resale. If anyone knowsErnie Mcdaniel please E-mail me his address, phone #,or E-mail. I really appreciate the help.;)

8 out of 10??

Only difference between an 8 and a 10 is the 2 short bars that go diagonally down to the floor behind the seats, off of the main hoop.
I have spent about 50 hours fabing a moly 6 pt bar for my 86, and am far from finished. If you want it to FIT and be LEGAL, have a shop that knows the rules and has the bender, to do it. The SUMMIT and JEGS stuff is NOT what you want...
Didn't think much of the 12 pt I got from S&W either, when I built the "yellow car"!!:( :(
