Well, looks as if I will start some mods on my recently purchased GN. I want to get a scan tool, fuel pump, hot wire kit, and boost guage. Who are the best manufacturers for these products and where can I get them? Also, what should they cost me? I have seen this setup is good for starters with a good running stock car. Correct me if I'm wrong. Wanna take the mods slow and in the right order. Thanks

First off, unless you already have an aftermarket upgraded fuel pump, pull the superchip out and put the stock chip back in before you hurt the motor OR don't run any less than about 94 octane in it...Forget about the additive octane boosters like 104+, etc., they don't work and will foul your plugs...If you haven't already been there, go to www.gnttype.org and read everything over there...

You are on the right track with your first mods...

Scantool will be about $150-$300 for Scanmaster, Tlink, DirectScan, etc.
Fuel pump will be anywhere from about $90-$120 for a Walbro 307 or 340...
hotwire kit for fuel pump is around $50 if you buy a plug and play kit from the vendors, less if you make your own...
Boost gauge is anywhere from $25-$50 depending on brand, etc...

Most of the Turbo Buick vendors carry all these items in stock...Some of the vendors that I've had good experiences with have been Jack Cotton @ Cotton's Performance, Ramchargers, Precision Turbo...I haven't had any experience with Racetronix, but they seem to have a decently priced fuel pump/hotwire package going...

Replace the superchip with a chip from one of the chip guru's here on the board...Jay Carter, Jim Testa, Precision Turbo, etc, all have great chips available burned custom for your setup...

Good luck with your Turbo Buick and welcome to the darkside!!!

Hey DARB,

I see you live in Greensboro, I live in Fayettenam. We are are having a get together this weekend outside of Raleigh in Garner. You should really try to make it. You need to speak to Gary Mitchell aka Black Car. He could have been a Buick engineer instead he chose to be a porn star(porn industry's loss).

Anyway, he has a lot of knowledge about these cars and can absolutely help guide you in the right direction, although you do seem to be on the correct path.

Please feel free to email me if you'd like to exchange phone numbers. Take care and I hope you can make it.

I got my Walbro 340 and hot wire from Racetronix. Good people fast shipping and very nice kit! Everything you need in one box. They take PayPal too.

Johns Performance is also a great vendor! I've bought just about everything I've needed from him so far. Good prices and never disappoints!

I like to give credit where credit is due, and these two vendors deserve some:D
