I want to buy an alky kit and don't know much about them. Which one is best and what are the pros and cons?

Thanks
Rich

Don't think I've heard anything bad about either kit.
If you're running mostly the street. There is no down side.
If your a weekend warrior. There is no down side.
Both kits are great and have good service...
One is just a little slow answering his Email...;)

I have have been running an SMC kit and have not complaints. Steve is very easy to get a hold of and easy to work with.

Save your penny's and buy razor's kit YOU WON"T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ask anyone that has upgrade from smc to pac.

best performance upgrade done to my car and it pays for it self every time i go to the track run 11's and dont have to buy race gas!!!!!!!!!!

when i leave the track i still keep the boost at 26lbs all day long.

thanks JD

You can also go the cheap DIY way. Buy a Sureflow pump, hobbs pressure switch and wire it all up. It will cost you under $100 and works quite well. You can vary the pump speed with a small allen on the pump. If your hard up for cash i would got that route.

Other than that I would go with Razors kit. If your going to buy a kit brand new I would go with the progressive kit. I've read nothing but good things about it and it controls the amount of alcohol injected at higher boost pressures

where to buy razors kit?

Let me know ok.

Rumor confirmed. Check out smcenterprises.com. New tank and sweet new progressive controller...

Guess you weren't around when Razor bought an SMC kit, disected it, and then decided to build his own......trust me, there's more of the SMC kit in the Razor kit than you know. So I decided to use the coolant tank to gain more capacity & ease the install.....big deal. We both are always looking for ways to improve. You want improvement? Compare the controllers.

What about the PUMP, maybe you should copy THAT TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea, it might be easier to use the Shurflo pump....we just don't care for the wild pressure pulsations. Why do you think there is no pressure guage on that kit? Put one on your Shurflo and try to read it as the needle bounces 50 psi.........after you strip the fittings trying to tighten them into the plastic pumphead.

Guys lets show a little appreciation we all have our preferences but both of these kits are bad ass and we are lucky to have these available. Otherwise we would all be paying huge gas prices in race gas just to beat that cammed SS or pulley 04 cobra next to us;) There are plenty of SMC kits out there running great and with the overflow tank that only improves them more.

Wow.. talk bout a bad accusation.

It is true I bought an SMC kit 4 months after purchasing my TTA, as a matter of fact I bought an EGT as well. This is back in sept '01. And is is true I approached Steve with the idea of making the controller progressive in Sept '02. As a matter of Fact Steve sent me a PCB from one of his controllers to see if it could be made progressive. After fiddling with it for a month, I gave up. And in March '03 I decided to start on it again.. this time with a fresh start. And after 9 different variations, what I currently sell has not changed since June '03.

To add a little to the pudding, I sent Steve an email in June of '03 that I finally had the controller working and to see if he was interested in it. I never heard back.. guess I wouldnt be doing what i'm doing today had the email been responded too.

You know I like saving old things... what i'm posting was a communication that I saved for some unknown reason...

Julio:
Got your message- will send board out tomorrow. Found this circuit
today-
super simple and might be what we need! See what you think.

Looks like I had permission to disect huh ;)

Great to see you making improvements to your kit. Good luck with your new controller and its design. I wish you the best.

:D

I made no accusation.....it's true that many of the parts from Razor's kit came from the SMC kit, or am I wrong? So for me to be accused of copying Razor's kit from a simple tank change is ludicrous.

As for the controller- It is true that I sent Razor a board to play with way back when. But at the same time I was working on a new (analog) progressive circuit as well and introduced the 1st SMC progressive unit in June '03 without ever seeing Razor's design.
I was never totally pleased with it (or ANY controller) that could not be labelled in boost numbers. This is alot easier to do in digital circuitry with a microcontroller based design, which took me 6 months to design, build and program.

I don't mean to ruffle any feathers, but it is bound to happen when there are 2 competing systems in this small Buick market. That is the main reason I've been selling kits to many other turbo cars, especially the imports.

Peace to All-
