I'm hoping to drop an 85-87 N/A 3.8 into a 1969 Skylark and twin turbo it with 2 T03 turbos. It will be a blow thru carb setup. The carb. will be either a Holley or Demon. High 11's will be the goal.

What year would be best?
So far I know I need some engine parts:

4.1 intake or 3.8 aftermarket for 4 bbl carb
A 4.1 crank
Forged pistons-Hyper if I feel brave

Anything I'm missing? I know there is more to the swap than the engine, but I want to get that nailed down first. I know what turbo parts I need, so don't worry about that.

Why am I doing it? Well, I want power and a car that isn't nose heavy, which would be the case even with aluminum parts on a 350 (with aluminum-370 lbs.). I want the car to handle and keep it all Buick. I did search, but I'm almost blind from all the reading. Thanks for your answers in advance.

high 11's ...dont need much

86-87 motor toss in some hypo's ...do some mild port work while your at it ...might as well toss a SMALL cam in it since it will be n/a to start with and run low boost since carbed...

n/a crank should take it long as you dont detinate it trying to stuff lotza boost it in...wont need much to run high 11's

Why not just go with an 86/87 Turbo motor as in comes out of a turbo regal??? Sounds like a very expensive proposition going to two tubos on a non turbo motor  A bone stock 86/87 turbo motor will get you into the 11's with only a few well chosen external bolt on's. No need to worry about expensive pistons, etc. and the normally aspirated engine as a base isn't going to have a turbo friendly crank in it either.
Do the right thing, put a turbo motor in it to start with.

Start with a 4.1 and you will have the crank and the intake (plus the displacement). Just need pistons

Go with a single turbo and you can use the 86/87 Turbo V6 exhuast plumbing and all the aftermarket support (like downpipes).

It will be cheaper and better to drop a 455 in that Skylark than a carb'ed 4.1 even with a turbo. You are not going to see 11's with that set up without spending LOTS more than a 455 with alum heads.

You cannot run the boost of an '86-7 V-6 without and intercooler and engine management system. Blowing through a carb is not efficient. To run 11's with the Skylark will need 550-600 HP which means all good parts and a girdle for the 4.1. Just built a Buick 455 for a guy's Skylark, so I know it would be cheaper, easier and much better results going that way

I did neglect to mention it will be intercooled, water injected, and a 3.8 ONLY. While it might(?) lack the displacement to go 11's, I don't think fuel injection is needed even though it is superior. I've seen several blow thru carb setups run low 10's. I don't think a carb is automatically unable to do the job--IF that's what you mean. I do know you must do it right tho. Yes I know it means the good parts(girdle+), but if my new job works out like I hope that may not be as big a problem as it is now.

As for the 455...that's for my 70 Skylark:D :D Maybe a couple of turbos for that one too, just low boost. ;)
