This is a repost as I got no replies a few weeks ago when I put in in another forum. I’m looking for opinions on which cam would work best for my setup? This is a fun car only. I do not use it as a daily driver. However I also don’t plan on spending time at the track other than to find out what it runs. It’s just a cruising car and I must keep it reliable. I want a cam that is capable of high 10’s that I can detune and run low 11’s on the street (if that is possible). I’m thinking a 212/212 range. I will be going roller and my combo will be the same as in signature with these changes:
• Billet mains
• Balanced rotating assy
• Forged pistons
• Ported heads & intake
Also what brand of cam and who sells the brand suggested.
I’m getting real excited about this build but truthfully its going have to go together a piece at a time as extra cash shows itself.
Thanks Chad

You will be fine with a small cam as you suggest. The power is made in the heads (alum full ported perfered) and turbo size, intercooler and converter, not much else...unless you want to go faster than 9 seconds, which gets very costly and risky. A billet 224 roller will idle like a kitten but will soften low end torque on a small motor. If your using stock heads it has no real advantages of a 210 cam. Stock untouched long blocks have went mid 10s with the right parts... with big enough turbo and intercooler etc. DLS has customs grinds, usually made from comp cams, and will steer you in the right direction.

Chadly I am no guru but I really like the split duration cams like Weber sells, with a bigger intake than exhaust. 218 212 Turbo Buick Ductile Roller Camshaft These are similar to the grinds that ATR used to sell, really good grinds. They also have a billet version, uses different hardware to get it all set up so talk to them and make sure you have everything you need.

Definately go roller, I like my 218/218, I'm sure it's a little much.... and it takes a little to get the boost and RPM's up.... but it pulls like mad.

stick with a 206 dur

the drivability and power will be more than enough,
unless you like a slow spool and sluggish low end, the smaller dur will work just fine,

That’s what I’m starting to think. And if I understand NOrbs he is saying the same thing. I also got a pm from a guy who has a 210/215 and he said slow spool and no real power untill 4500rpm. He said he felt he had to beat the car just to get it to go and his vac brake conversion would no longer work.
I do appreciate all replies they give me something to look into and think about.
