Hey everyone,

When I bought my car the owner said it had a Precision Street chip. Anyone ever heard of these? My car has Alky hooked up on it and turns on around 14 pounds of boost. I would like to find a chip that is known to give a smooth idle and good with 94 octane gas. I am not that much into racing and trying to get the car faster. I just want to drive this car once or twice a week. And have it run good and once in awhile get on it.

14 psi of boost WITH alky? That seems about 6 psi too low unless you are running very little amount of alky.

Well i am very partial to Eric Marshall, www.turbotweak.com he is making very good chips these days. They idle and drive perfectly. No major tuning needed if you just want a 93 octane street chip.

You have 2 choices, high timing chip for alky, and a low timing chip for 94 octane.
What alky kit do you have?

I have had the car for a month and put 150 miles on it. I was told when i bought it that he has it set at 14 pounds of boost. The alky system is a SMC. Also have a internal boost control. I have not goofed with any of the controls on either units. I took the car for a ride the other day and while at a red light it would act like it wanted to stall for a second then start running ok for 10 seconds. Then it would start the acting like it wanted to stall. I don't know where to start. Maybe a chip first. When i first got the car I was sitting at a red light while it was 95 outside and the check engine light came on. I checked scanmaster and had a code 44. So went out and bought a new Denso O2 sensor. Unplugged the orange cable. 75 miles later got another check engine light while at a light and another code 44. Should I look into something else before buying a chip?

I forget what 44 is, isnt that lean 02?

Check to see if air is entering the engine after the MAF, like hose between turbo and maf sensor, torn intercooler hose, misaligned uppipe hose.

I would hold on to that old 02 sensor, there isnt anything wrong with it, the computer is just telling you that the car was so lean it tripped a code.

If you do have a scantool, see where the maf readings drop to, if they are low, you have air entering the motor after the maf sensor

here is a copy from another poster...

Trouble Code 44 indicates that the O2 sensor is showing a persistently high exhaust oxygen content (lean), despite the efforts of the ECM to increase injector on-time (thus increasing fuel delivered). Integrator and BLM numbers may indicate > 128 by a substantial margin.

The conditions for setting this code are:

no Code 33 or Code 34 (MAF Error) present, and
the O2 sensor voltage remains below 250 mVolts, and
the ECM is in Closed Loop control, and
the above conditions exist for more than 50 seconds.

Typical causes for this code include:

1) O2 sensor defective or lead shorted
2) Lean injectors (dirty or blocked)
3) Water in fuel
4) Exhaust leaks upstream of O2 sensor
5) Fuel pressure or volume too low
6) MAF sensor reading lower airflow than is actually present
7) Vacuum leaks
8) Incorrect or poorly calibrated PROM

I have an "Ultrachip" from Casper's. It has 7 settings you can switch to without changing the chip. Also has a security setting that won't let the car start.
