Which external WG for 6776DBB?

I bought my 3" DP years ago on ebay(old ATR I think) and it came with a Deltagate external WG. I have always ran into problems with it sticking closed(high boost) or stuck open(low boost). It was pretty old when I got it and my mods have changed since then. What external gate would be right for my application now and where would I purchase it?

I am tired of tearing mine apart and cleaning it(rusted) after my car sits for a couple of weeks and I try to build boost and it either falls on its face or spikes to 30 psi

I just put an RJC plate and drove it for the first time in weeks and my first instinct was "Oh crap!! I cant make over 17 psi...That plate killed my boost...but I know better, its just my WG".

I used a 38mm Tial gate with that downpipe and it was a direct fit. Never had any problems with it. I know Patrick has used it too.

Well I took WG apart a few minutes ago and this time it wasnt sticking. I need to figure out where 6 lbs of boost went since last time I drove it. I changed plenums and installed an RJC plate...thats the only changes that were made. Maybe I have another culprit somewhere....

I do need to change that WG at some point in time so thanks for the info.

Feel like an idiot.:redface: IC hose clamp was loose from TB removal and plenum swap. I have a newborn baby...no sleep in the last 4 weeks. Thats my excuse for being careless and I'm sticking with it.

Should have boost now...will take a pass tomorrow....

I also replaced a Deltagate with a 38mm Tial on my old DP. Got mine on ebay. There should be plenty of them on there. I thought I saw a Tial banner on this board recently??

I bought my Tial 44 mm from these guys awhile back. Wastegates . Tial is an awesome WG. I do remeember that there are two different valves that were used in the 38mm. ONe for use with leaded fuel and one not. Get the "Race" one. I am very pleased with mine. Throw that ATR gate away. the problem with the atr gate is that the valve seals on the flange it bolts to. When the weld rusts away there is no more good seal and boost leaks past it. bad design. good luck, jeremy in lake charles

Yes! I forgot about this. As stated get the "Race" valve for use with leaded gas. It will work with both leaded and unleaded unlike the other vavle... Not quite sure why the other vavle is even offered.

I went to that rx-7 website and found the WG's but they dont say if its regular or race gas. Give me some more input guys.

Better overlooking something like that on the car as opposed to forgetting a feeding! Congratulations on the baby.

Give Tial a email, and they will tell you who is a current vendor for their wastegates. I got a Tial 38mm to replace my Deltagate. My Deltagate was also sticking and boosting to 30++ (Hell i ran those numbers for a year without popping HG's and not detonating a lot)

Anyways, i got a black 38mm with a race valve and a 25psi spring (Big blue and small blue i belive) I got the race valve since i figured if i ever run race gas or if i sell the car and the next owner runs race gas, the gate wont stick. Also i run alky and i didnt wanna get the gate and for some odd reason alky would make it go to crap. So i'd get the race valve.

I got it from a vendor 30 mins away from here, and when it is wonderful. I have my gate on the crossover pipe. Its wonderful, i boost 25 psi now, and it doesnt creep.

The best thing i realized from going from the Deltagate to the Tial was IT SPOOLS UP FAAAST NOW!! I love the Tial gate, BUT dont be fooled by any of the websites that sell a Tial gate for 150 bucks, OR the ebay ones because they are more then likely fake.

Go to their website and email them and they'll tell you who to contact who is around you and get a authentic gate, and not a fake!

Another question: How important is a $400 WG when you have an RJC boost controller like I do. Doesnt that boost controller really do away with the WG in a sense? I have my Deltagate set at about 9 lbs presure..just enough to hold but not enough to be in charge of the boost...I run 24-25 psi all the time with alky.
