When changing the fluid in my 200-4r, should I use the 200 filter kit or the 700r4? I've heard both over the years. Just wanted to know what the consensus was now.

Also, what fluid? Type F?

I've installed the 700R4 filter as it does draw from the bottom giving more insurance against starvation on hard leaves.
The experts now say Type F is too thick for a 2004R but works great in TH400's, TH350's and `Glides. I use Dextron or synthetic ATF, while others swear by industrial hydraulic fluid.

not looking to start trouble here but if you study the pans design, where oil goes under accelleration etc youll see that oil starvation is not in any way a problem with the stock filter if the transmission oil level in the pan is level with the gasket line.if the car pulls the wheels than thats a different story.built a baffle around the parking pawl and still use the stock filter without a problem.the stock design is very efficient at oil control, and if it wasnt wed see alot of burny forward frictions in the 2004r,and we never do so thats all a bunch of hot air imo.

I dunno Chris....

I think mine sucked air long enough tonight to release the band...

1st to 2nd manually, almost ready to shift to 3rd and it zinged the motor like neutral, and then got 2nd again...

Stock pan, dam on the parking pawl hole, and 1 qt overfilled....

youve got other problems imo.if you seen what i do on road tests with 406 cubic inches and a supercharger with the stock pan youd be a believer too:D

Could be....

I need to put a pressure guage on it, but 427 BBC Merlin heads, 10-1 compression, RPM intake, 800 Q-jet, GN converter, 3.73's, 200-4R, GN servo, etc..

It launches harder now than ever, even harder than the TH400 and 4500 converter...

The 2.74 1st gear...

It kicked out sideways on the 1-2 shift and then fishtailed a little on the correction, then zinged up.. Never has done it before...

Still shifting firm... Works OK. Just totally lost manual 2nd for a moment....

maybe she went back to 1st through the detent passage on theplunger after you lifted the gas ?

It was only a second, car was already almost ready to shift to 3rd, and zinged rpm up, then caught again.
