Can anybody recommend a line lock? Good ones? Ones to avoid? Thanks.

Does Hurst make one specific for the GN? Or should I buy the universal one? Do the regular GN vendors carry them or should I buy at Jegs/Summit? Thanks all!

I did some research. Looks like Jegs and Summit both carry the Hurst, for about $110. They have the universal one, part number 174-5000, and then the installation kit for $28, part number 567-1510. Here is a pic from ebay. Is this the correct one? Thanks!

eBay Motors: New Hurst 12-volt Line Lock/ Roll Control complete kit (item 250136806544 end time Jul-03-07 18:32:26 PDT)

I got my Hurst Line lock from Ebay with the installation kit. You could try there but dont get the installation kit. Its cheaper and would fit/look better to get you hoses from NAPA. They come prebuild with the ends in different sizez so all you need to know is the how long you need it and what thread size.

Thanks. So basically I'm tapping into the front brake line, right? Would I remove a section of brake line and then replace it with one from NAPA? I did a search and apparently it is best to do it after the proportioning valve, (under the car)? I emailed Cotton to see what brand he carries.

I'll take a picture of mine if that would help? and since i just done mine i could probably tell you what fittings you need. Scot w.

I've had Hurst for many years...no problem.

Jack won't steer you wrong either.

I need all the help I can get. A pic would be great! Did you mount it next to the master cylinder? If so, how do you straighten out the coiled brake line to run it over to the solenoid? I just got off the phone with a friend of mine who bought his from Cotton. He said Cotton puts the fittings on for ya. I guess I'm looking for a "plug and play" set up.

Mounted mine on inner fender. Removed and kept the original brake line. Bought 2 brake lines...one from master cylinder to line lock and the other from line lock to proportioning valve. Bent them gently by hand...

Here you go rick...

when you have all the fittings and line, Mount the unit, Pre-bend the top line for fitment, put a towel under the master cyl, take the line out of the master cyl and bend it by hand till it fits in the fitting with out force, install the top line to the line-loc and then fit the other end to the master cyl. Becarefull NOT TO CROSS THREAD!! Fill the resivoir back up, bleed the front brakes real good and your done with that part, Then it's the wiring: Take the black wire and solder on a Round end and attach it to the fender using one of the screws that hold on the relays right there, NEXT: Solder on a extra red wire about 5' long and use shring tubbing over the solder joint, run that wire into the car. NEXT: hook up the switch to your shifter and run the wire from that under the console and out the side for easyier hook up. NEXT: The red wire from the line-loc goes to one of the wires coming from the switch and the other wire from the switch goes to a IGN spot on your fuse box with the supplied inline fuse. Tuck the wires away nice and Wala! your done! Now to check if it works: Simply turn the key to "ON" poss and press the line-loc button, if you hear it clicking, it's working.....

Good luck! Scot w.

Thanks Scott! Can't be any clearer than that. I also like the idea of replacing the brake line to the proportioning valve.

just remember

just remember the line lock is not a trans brake type of item , the main purpose is for a burnout to warm the tires without heating up the rear brakes. the cooler you can keep your rear brakes the better they will be for holding power at the line to build boost, try not to use it for launching.its a easy install that you should be able to do in about 15 mins good luck..

I see no need to replace it but it's your car. I didn't replace mine and it works just fine. Keep in mind, your only doing this just for a burnout. if the orriginal brake line was working fine, leave it. I kind live by the motto: "If it isn't broke don't fix it!" Replacing the line to the proportioning valve is fine but it will require alot more bleading. Scot w.

doesnt the one cotton sale come with everything needed. i want to get one but i dont want to be running to the hardware store to get lines made and getting the correct fittings. it would be nice if a vendor supplyed everything needed. if there is a vendor that supplys everything lines and fittings let me know please.

Could the line lock hold 5 psi at the line for launching? Could that hurt anything? I think I read that the trans brake is not good for the transmission, and I'm not looking for a 15 psi launch.

The line-loc will hold alittle less than your can hold now cause your only holding the front brakes and you will start to push it forward at some point but you'll only know what it will hold untill you try it. The foot brake is better cause your holding all four tires..
