This spring I am going to be replacing my plug wires and I was wondering which ones everyone recommends.

I was thinking of getting the ones from Postons/Kirbans. Are these any good?

Thanks!!

I don't know about the ones from Kirbans but I had a set from Postons that didn't stand the heat of my GN. they melted in like 3 months. I then replaced them with 10mm Magnecore wires wich have lasted about 1 1/2 to 2 years now. I bought them from Bowling Green Customs now Southern Customs for like $40 bucks with shipping.

The ones from Poston's and Kirban's are the same. Not bad if your trying to go for the stock look, but theres definately better out there.
I have been satisfied with the Magnecors. I have the 10mm version, but the 8.5 are good as well (my brother has them). They are the same wire, just more insulation on the 10mm which definately gives a look that stands out.
Got mine from Ramchargers. 8.5mm are $69 and the 10mm are $75. Turbojitsu, Ive never heard of them for 40 bucks...... Im jealous:D

Did the Magnecores fit perfectly? I have heard of some "custom" sets that weren't cut to the right length.

Also, what color are they?

Thanks!

The Magnecors are red. Most places advertise the 86-87 ones, but they also make/have them for 84-85. You just have to ask.
I didnt think about it when I ordered them and wound up installing the 86-87 ones. There are about two wires that were a little short (I think) but they will work, you just have to be smart about which spot to use which one. I have also spoke to the guy who owns/runs Magnecor and he seemed real helpful. He said if I ever had any problem with a wire, or wanted to get one of a different length that he could send out singles. He also was the one that let me know that he does make a different set for the 84-85s and that Ramchargers had them. I just didnt ask for the right ones:( . Oh well theyve been on for a while now, look good and work good:) .

How about a stock AC Delco set? Are they not good enough?

Magnecores sound good, but I was kind of hoping to find some good ones that were a more subdued black or gray or something

What about the AC/Delco ones?

Thanks for all the input guys!

I looked at the Southern Customs website and I saw the Magnecores for $67 dollars but I could have sworn that I paid $37 dollars and I can't find the reciept. Oh well I guess I made another mistake.

magnecores suck.

ever seen one of those MSD test stands? yeah.. my full length pep boys plugwires have less resistance than 1ft of a 8.5mm magnecore wire.

i now have MSD's get them from your local speed shop, the cut to fit, should be around $90.

they wont melt.

MSD also makes a set for the '86-'87.
The part number is MSD 3186 and like what was stated earlier, they will work-

i liked making mine the right length.

i also made a plug wire hold down on the passenger side valvecover out of ~5" of coat hanger wire, looks like factory, and it keeps my plugwires close to the VC, off the downpipe.

they will never get close enough to burn ever again.

Taylor 409's here 10.4mm and not a melt on them and there close to the headers. over $100 though:)

Where all can I find Magnecores? Can I buy them at a parts store or do they have to be ordered?

Thanks!

probably because they dont know/care that there is a difference in the years..
