ok i plan on running on alky 100% of the time and i wont use racegas probably ever. well, maybe once or twice but im into the idea of running at the track the same way i can run on the street. i would like a translator/LT1 MAF combo. i like the tunability of the T+ but since i can have chips custom burned for me extremely cheaply (free) could i just get a regular translator and LT1 MAF and have the timing set into the chip? i would control boost via a BstC unit b/c i like its adjustablity. i would only need one chip since im only running a certain way correct?
BTW, my goals are only hi 11's:D

With the trans plus, you can modify timing for bad gas. Helps getting through a bad tankfull.

hmmmm...not sure if thats worth the extra $100 tho but thoiat is a good point. i could also have my friends burn me a "bad gas" chip for that instance when that may occur. thanks for the reply:D keep 'em coming:)

With your stated goals in mind you can get by with the Trans/LT1 combo.
But the advantages to the Trans+ AND the Extender chip will take you quite a bit further in convenience and tuneability.

The extender will allow the ECM to properly fuel the car since it allows for the extra air flow beyond other chip's 255 limit.
The extender has so many other features that are very handy.
Anti theft/valet mode
WOT TCC lockup adjustability.
Lean Cruise
Open loop idle
etc.

The Translator + will allow you to run what ever timing fits the situation. Something you can't get in any other chip, regardless of how cheap or free they are. You can't have enough chip profiles laying around to account for the many varied situations you may come across.

After all, my chips were free too (I burned my own for many years). I'm running the Translator +/Extender combo now, because it's just plain BETTER. Even though I had my own street and race chips. They still didn't offer everything I now have.

With the T+/Extender combo, you only need one chip. You can run mild street timing, to wild full on race timing, Extender negates any MAF dropouts because you wont hit it's breathing limit (512gps) with your combo, and even if you someday do, the extender extreme is available (700+gps airflow capability).

Sure it's more $$ up front, but the dividends paid down the line will pay for themselves.
