Be Careful with Grundy. I just spoke to them. THere are many limitations to their iunsurance. No driving to the store, no occasional driving to work, no this, no that....
Screw that...

Ronbuick -

I called Matt Tyner and got a great quote ....Nice guy...
Said he has been insuring a ton of GN's & GNX's lately...
So far, I am going with them..
Thanks for the leed...This thread just saved my $600.00 a year...
Now I can go get that 9/11 stall converter with a clear concious..;)

with all of the classic auto policys you CAN'T use the car for everyday errends. Tharts why it is so inexpensive.. If you get an accident using your classic insured using it for an every day errrand they won't pay off likely. Read the fine print.

I asked the questions. This guys answers were completely differnt than most.
Bottom line - This guy said there is a 3k limit on milage a year, and that s about it. Well - That and my 17 year old cannot be covered. I have no problem with that !

However, that said - I will read the fine print...

hey guys, thanks for all the help.
I fell to mention, that i am only 21 yrs old. Do you guys have any recommendations?
Also since i am in the military, does it matter where i sign up for my car insurance?
I have not found a person to cover my car fully.

He did mention that the primary driver had to be 27.
You may have to go with regular insurance for a few more
years.
:(

So.....checking out Hagerty online quoting page.

Am I modified or exotic?

I have basic mods that with the exception of the exhaust I could go back to stock in under an hour.

But if I read their description of 'exotic' the GN seems to apply.

Thoughts?

For an agreed value of 20k they want 401 a year with is fine with me.

Renthorin,
Not sure, I called and spoke with someone and do not recall that question (amongst the other 20). I got $390.00 for 16k worth of coverage, which I also thought was more than fair. Hagerty did mention the GN was the ONLY 1980's GM car they acknowledged as a classic, so that is why they covered it.

I also called the guy Matt at classicins.com, and he offered the same coverage gor $290.00. See earlier thread response.

I am waiting to get both quotes in the mail, to read the fine print.
My problem is, I still occasionally drive the car to work, to the store, track, etc and do not want to see much in the way of restricting that.

Yeah I take my GN to work a couple times a year. I also like to cruise around pointlessly every nice weekend.

I only put about 3k miles on it a year.

If I get into an accident or stolen while out on one of those trips I plan to pretend I was on my wan to the auto store or muffler place...

please do. He is just the insurance agent.. The policy is underwritten by American collectors (which i had before Grundy) and read their fine print.. No every day errrands.. Just like ALL collectors insurance..
Hope that helps. Both are fine but I found the No mileage and no deductable AND a slightly cheaper price of Grundy over American collectors more desireable.

Also Hagerty Insurance in Traverse City, MI specialize in collectable cars and the Buick Grand National is the only one from the 1980's they acknowledge.
I have not signed up with them yet, but received a quote for $390 per year.....My insurance is up in June so I am also looking.
You can find them on the internet..
is there a age limit, and do you have there number?

i dont have a fenced in garage or anything like that. I guess i dont really qualify for this insurance.

Regarding age limits !!

I have no idea ..I am well over 25 and never thought to ask.

If you got to hagerty.com. You can ask them directly..Or you can call them on Monday and hit them 'head on' with that question..

I am not trying to avoid your question, I just do not know the answer...and it would be easier for you to check them out, then for me to ask..;)

sorry man, i did not mean to come off being rude. I would like to get some classic car insurance, but i dont think i qualify for any yet. I plan on buying a house with a 2 car garage once i get stationed in oklahoma city.

thanks for all the help guys,

I think the only insurance i qualify for right now would be regular insurance, and the insurance companies will not offer me anything but liablility insurance.
