I worked on a Buick a few weeks ago and when I tried to remove the belt, the plate popped off. So I drilled three holes and tapped them with 10x32 bolts and re-attached the plate.
Sometimes simple stuff like this can be done and gets you out of buying an expensive part.
Pot metal sucks...
