Times are a changing and the Buick is coming into it's own with the women now. They are starting to think it's sexy. I live across the street from a park where a lot of 20 something's come to walk for excercise. They are starting to notice the car, in fact I've already had three, "Isn't that the car that Vin Diesel drove." comments from them in the last few weeks.

Seriously though, although it took about three months when we first started dating for my wife to realize that it wasn't a Monte Carlo, she is starting to acknowledge that these cars have a certain mystique that makes them more than just a way to get from A to B.

My girlfriend had never heard of a Grand National but she loved it as soon as I accelerated. When it became a 12 second car she loved it even more. Now that it is a 10 second car she always asking to go for a ride and floor it! I think it gives her an org*sm. One her favorite things is the sound the blow-off valve makes when I lift off the gas pedal. It makes her laugh every time - Joel

whats wrong with your women in here??? everytime i drive a turbo buick or see one i have to change my panties from excitement :D:D;) i cant get enough. now if i can only find a man that can please me like a turbo buick can:rolleyes:

Really

Girls cant keep thier hands off of MY CAR. random girls on the street ask me for a ride and some say they like the car (wasn't driving it that day).

Car makes the girls get NEKED;):biggrin::biggrin:

And the ones who dont like it see it acts like a hooptie somtimes.

This reply is from the wife of a longtime GN gearhead. I read through the thread - interesting comments. Thought I'd like to post a response from my perspective. I'm not nuts about any car... but I like his TR's because he loves them and I love him (ahhh...but it's true). I'm sure I'm not the only wife who feels this way either. I've done the eye rolling thing and definitely looked at them as "competition" - wishing he was as passionate about fixing up the house as he is the cars. That quick acceleration thing is pretty fun in traffic I have to admit. My request to all gearheads: just give us moments of undivided attention from time to time, dress up for us once in a while and take us somewhere special (minus the grease), and keep up on the household chores/projects - without being asked.

Signed,
CliffyC's wife

I think that most of them don't like TBs is because its muscle. Most women where I live say that ricers are prefered. The reason that they give is Fast & Furious. We went to Autorama this year and the only car that the girl liked that I was with was a freakin evo with a body kit and rims. She didn't like the GN, Syclone, Lambo, Ferrari, Corvettes, Camaros, Chevelles, Chargers and Vipers. It was just the evo which is BS. Most of the younger generation don't know how to appreciate muscle.

I did a 10 psi trans brake launch with my wife in the back seat of a 10.5 car.
I did not let off until I wound out second gear.
That was not the best way to get my wife in love with it.

Another time I was testing a car with a bad torque converter.
I floored it accross the intersection and nothing happened for about 60-80 feet, then it felt like we got rear ended.
The rear end pitched to the left and I drove down part of the street that way...This also did not help.

The only way I got her to like the cars again was be letting her drive it to work for a couple days.
The first day she complained like she had to walk uphill in the snow both ways to get the work.
By the end of the second day she said "I made the turbo go across the street." Thank God I turned the boost down to about 13-14 psi.

Imo the most respect is form the legendary performance. Not the styling. You would have to know what the car is and was when it was produced or experienced the performance for yourself to have any appreciation. 99% of women dont know dick about performance or what it takes to achieve it. If they are into quick cars they will most likely like the TR's. Otheriwse its just a 20+ year old g-body clunker with average styling like an MCSS. I would not give a chit about the cars myself if it wasnt for the R&D of the LC2. Way ahead of its time. If i woke up and saw a carbureted dinosaur under the hood of my TR id have cashed it in for the $4500 clunker deduction:tongue:

Never had any negative stuff from women about the car. A girl I dated a couple years ago made it a point to "date me" in my GN after a day-long drive. Most have no knowledge of these cars.

I think the TR is not appealing to women for the same reason most of us do not find "girly" cars appealing... just not the right styling/look/image it represents.

I get the same disinterested looks and opinions from women and even some guys (they must be a little gay, I think) ;) -the ones who know nothing about these cars. One of my friends said it reminds him of an old womans car, my mother- when I showed her a cream beige TType called it a banana boat... I can't win.

I introduced my wife to the Gn on a test drive and when she drove it, the car scared her.

Since we like to work on the cars together (she's a former Blackhawk mechanic), my solution was to buy here one too! After showing her that a gutless car in completely unacceptable, she too has become a gear head so to speak and actually has encouraged me to buy better parts so that we can go fast in all of our cars...

I don't get too much by way of complaining because we both like to work on the house stuff too. Oh, yeah and she encourages me to buy new tools too...

My wife did not like the looks of it at first but it grew on her. Now she loves it and likes to drive it.

that's awesome, my wife wouldn't go look at my car when i brought her home until after dinner and then she went out and looked at it. i told her i could sell it if it didn't work out and she was like your not selling this car. one day awhile back we were joking about divorce and she made a comment about me not taking the GN, i told her i would regardless if it was by force or what ever. i wouldn't harm her but she's f'n with my emotions talking about taking away my car. i'll burn that bi&*h to the ground before i let her take it away from me. from what i know her son wants it BAD, asked me all the time to let him take it but i know how he treats his mustang and i'll be damned if i let him treat my GN like that. there are only 2 pilots of my GN and that's me and the old lady and she says there's too much to remember and she works in a bad neighborhood. I took her for a ride within a week of buying it and she was yelling at me she had enough before we hit 50 MPH.:D

What would she do with the $50?:p
I took my wife out for a ride early on when I first got my car. It shifted into second and chiped. Startled she says to me, "Is it supposed to do that?". I smiled and said yes. She hasn't gone for a ride since.

My wife borrowed the T while I worked on her car one Saturday to go to a garage sale. She got upset with some goof who cut her off and gassed on it to go around him. Has not liked/driven the car since.
