I can't count the times through the years I have been asked about my Monte Carlo !!

WHY?...simple: some people don't go through the "trouble" of reading the nameplates on the car, and no, not everyone knows about cars. Every g-body looks almost the same, except for the grilles, taillights, etc... You must admit that a black Monte Carlo looks a little like a GN!...
I've been asked several times about my "Monte Carlo"...So what?...It's no big deal...Some people are offended by this...but not me.

Claude.

no new news

I ordered my gn new in 87 and people not as bad as now would say is that a monte SS : now after buying a dark red med car maroon all i hear is nice monte  you just have to take it

I now look at it like someone yelling "HEY! HEY! HEY!" to get my attention. Not my name, I ignore. If they ask about the Monte, I ignore. One guy at a gas station asked me about my Olds and I said "I don't have an Olds". He pointed to the GN and I said "Oh the Buick?..." :D

I've also gotten the "Monte" comments a time or two. As said chances are the ones with the "Monte" comments don't know their cars all that well and confuse a MCSS with a GN...well both did come in black with blacked trim, only the trained eye can differentiate.

Then again I've had people call my Chevelle a Nova and my Nova a Chevelle. And I've seen people confuse the older box style Chevy II's for Falcons. I even had some hoodrats walking past my house once and saw my grandma n/a V6 brown Regal sitting out...I overheard one say to the other "yo dawg he gawt a Cutty"

So why did you put a BUICK GRILLE on your MONTE?????:D:D:D
good one:biggrin:

i get the Nova stuff a lot. "what year is that Nova?" - 68 and i keep on going.
"Nice Nova?" - Thanks.

They may not have a clue as to what it is but they are going out of their way to say cool car. Works for me.

Every time my wife sees a g-body she says hey is that your car and I say no that’s a whatever it is and then she always says I don’t see how you can tell the difference they all look the same to me. I think she does it on purpose to get a rise out of me.

Try owing a 74 gto hence my sn nonova everyone calls my goat a nova, but atleast it has a 400 from a 70 gp with hicomp head and a 4 speed. I even have nonova as my plate and I still get it. But the monte thing I hear it all the time I just laugh on the inside. I even heard my gn is a gnx cause I have gtas with gnx caps but only real car guys know what's up
