Widest size for rears

Looking to run either some 17's or 18's and was wondering what's the widest size rims and tires that will fit on the rears without any major mods ? Also what backspacing or spacers were needed

Every car is different. I had no issues with 275x50 on stock wheels & now run same tires on 9.5" wide wheels with no issues. My buddy cut his 275x50 on the fenders with stock wheels. I had rubbing with 295x50 on stock wheels. A buddy was able to run 315x50, but they did rub.

I have 17X9.5 with 275/35/17 and no rubbing at all. and 4.75 inch backspacing.

Mine are a 295/45/17 with a 9.5 inch rim with a 5 inch backspace..mine rubbed once so far on a really big dip in the road im using cargo springs in the rear....
