Is there a difference in electronics/connector between the 84/85 style coil packs and 86/87 style coil packs? I have an 87 T and I have a spare coil pack from an 84/85 GN. Just wondering if it is a good spare in case my 87 coilpack dies?

dont think the firing order is the same but not sure if that matters as long as you use the 87 module. i would ask caspers electronics.

Coil pack:
The coilpack of the 84/85 will not fit the 86/87 module.
The coilpack of the 86/87 can be made to fit the 84/85 module with an adpater plate.

Module:
The module of the 84/85 will not fit the 86/87 cars. It will not be a bolt in and the wires need to be switched.
The module of the 86/87 can be made to fit the 84/85 cars. It will require a pigtail and adapter plate.

Hope this is clear as mud.

Thanks for the info. Ill just have it as a spare for someone who needs it for their 84/85 car:)

I have a few extra 86/87 coil packs in good working condition if you need one-reasonable.
