Peaches, that is denial. The amount of monies paid to execs may be high in your view and to a point I agree. The unbelievable benefit and retirement funds that these execs agreed to with the unions are by far the major source of problem. Economist, both pro and anti union agree, that those benefits are the cause of all 3 big manufacturers are hurting. You can't just blame the execs. It is greed of the unions as well. They design cars that lack luster, quality, and value and then they are assembled poorly and it is no wonder Toyota is kicking butt.
Toyota builds some of the most bland cars in the world, and they sell like crazy. Honda is mundane yet their quality carries them, and Nissan is along for the ride.
