I went to the track and ran the TTA. The car runs fine on the street but, it would cutout at the track. The car is getting alot of false knock from the down pipe hitting the frame like 45deg. and 30deg. of knock just cruising along. Will this false knock pull timming because the computer thinks it's leaned out? If so, What can i do about it and would that cause the car to surge? I ran 114 oct. and a 108 chip with stock turbo and 22 psi. boost. Let me know. Thanks Tim

Absolutely, it will pull timing. I had that problem with the downpipe, but on a TR, I ended up using an universal exhaust bracket and secured one end to the dp and one to the frame. Fixed the prob, now I have a THDP and no issues.

Could I just unplug the sensor at the track while running 114 oct fuel and watch the E.G.T. gage?

I wouldn't do that in case it is not all false knock! Fix the false knock problem and leave the sensor hooked up.

lol, how can you say that your scanmaster shows 30 degrees of knock, then ask if it is pulling timing because of it.

The number that is shown is in degrees. That number that you see is the amount of degrees of timing that the computer pulled from the engine.

Hey Tim, what kind of DP and SFC's are you using? What about the motor mounts? Are they shot? I loooked at mine and they were really bad. I went ahead and ordered the poly mounts for my car. There are two different kinds. Got the ones that raise the stock height of the engine to about 1/4" and makes it look more level in the engine bay. Helps w/ DP clearance too. Kinda of expensive but I will never have to replace them. You could get two right side mounts (right and left are the same despite the popular belief they are not) and put those in and use the torque strap. That false knock will kill your times and speeds at the track and that false knock could be hiding the real thing. I will show you mine when I get back to OKC if you want. Lemme know.

BTW, another thing to check, if you already did, would be the torque on the knock sensor. Shold be 14 ft/pnds. Some have false knock because it wasn't torqued right. Just a thought.

HTH,

My Scanmaster is showing 45 and 30 as I'm driving down the road in any gear and no load on the motor. I can just be barely be on the gas and it will show 45 or so on the Scammaster. I'll check the motor mounts and the torque on the sensor too. I'm sure my time would have been better than a 12.51 at 108 if this problem was cured. I'm using a 3" dp. Not sure of the name brand. What are SFC'S? Thanks Tim

Subframe connectors (SFC's).

That sounds pretty weird. Does it happen all the time or every once in a while?

I have the Mease 3" DP for my car. I had Keith Mease do me a favor and rebend the pipe for my Southside Machine SFC's. They are pretty hefty and he had his buddy w/ a TTA that had the same SFC's as me so it would fit nice. I guess I will find out when I put the DP on my car when I get back. Can't wait!:D

It happens all of the time. The down pipe isn't a home made one either. This down pipe uses the stock elbow and isn't bent very well because It hits the frame and the header. It's a P.O.S.

I fixed the false konck problem. I found out that the Scanmaster connection at the computer plug was loose and giving false readings. Now I need to find out why it is still missing. I think it maybe the coil pack.
