There are many issues discussed on this thread so I am sure I won't cover all of them. I didn't read all the posts so if someone covered this stuff I apologize for the repeat.
What everyone needs to know is no matter who the President is, he has no more power than you or I do when it comes to setting policy. Yes, he can suggest something but everything he does has to be approved by Congress. Congress has the real power so if someone has a problem with Bush or any President for that matter call you Senator because there is a good chance at least one of your Senators approved his request. The only thing Bush has control over is going to war, when attacked. He can make that call without Congress but if you all recall, he got Congress' approval before going into Iraq. Bush has followed thru with everything he said in his speech after 9/11. He said he would take care of terrorists and those that harbor them. Hasn't he done just that. Everyone knows the was WMD in Iraq. No doubt they will be found. Saddam has hiding places all over the country and had weeks/months/years to hide them. Did people really think they would be found in weeks?
Bush has surrounded himself with very good people. And his father was the director of the CIA before he was the VP and then President. Don't think George Sr. isn't providing his son with some very valuable advice.
For the countries that don't like us. Tough noogies. Does anyone think we were the favorites of the world when we dropped an atomic bomb on Japan in WWII? Nope. But, France liked us then, didn't they. Because we saved their country for them. We won WWII and got rid fo Hitler and now look at Germany and Japan. We turned two communist countries into allies.
The deficit is an issue. I agree. But walked into the deficit left by Clinton and turned it around despite a terrorist attack and a scared economy all at the same time he LOWERED taxes. That causes the deficit to increase. Kerry will tax the crap out of all of us and talk about the working class. Being from MA I know how much of a scum this guy is. Oh, and read some of the stories about his voting record on the Senate. He has flip flopped on so many issues now that he is running for President. He says he doesn't support special interest groups but he is taking more campaign contributions from them than Bush is, by a large margin too. Keep in mind, the deficit "Bush" is causing was all once again APPROVED by Congress.
Some people are so ignorant they chose to listen to the news stations and their biases rather than pay attention to history and how our gov't is actually constructed and run as determined by the constitution.
If John Kerry is elected this country is in trouble financially and the safety of our citizens is also in jeopardy. I'll take safety and a deficit any day over higher taxes, still having a deficit, and no safety because we are worried about offending Nigeria.
This does not mean I think Bush is perfect, he is not. But Kerry is further from perfect and no President will ever be perfect or please all 300 million Americans. I think he has made difficult decisions and has been consistent which is the sign of a good leader. If I could have my choice I would pick Jesse Ventura for President but since he isn't running this year my vote is for Bush.
