100% i.e. no tinting at all here. Took off mine. Us older guys don't see too well at nite.

Not even the light factory tint??

I have 35% (law). I used to have 16 on my last car, but it was hard to see out of at night on poorly lit roads. Trying to see pedestrians, etc. Funny enough, never got pulled over with 16%, but as soon as the Buick got the 35%, I got pulled over. MD puts a sticker in your window to show that your tint has been inspected.

I have to admit though, with the 16%, I had a trick. If I was worried about a cop or something, I could just open my sunroof. I had white interior so the tint would be cancelled pretty good.

What do you do in the rain?

Damn I really like that 5% but Im afraid it would be a hassle with the lawmen. Might go with something in the 20's for the front what do you guys with 5% think? Except for Nord who has someone write it off do you get hassled alot?

Go with what the laws says  . Nothing like paying to have it tinted, get a ticket and fine, pay to have it taken off and pay to have it retinted. Now that I am going to Georgia, I gotta get mine taken off. $1000 fine last time I checked  !

Damn 1000 thats ridiculous. I highly doubt I would catch slack if i got 25% though. I only drive it in the summer and mostly with the windows down so I guess it would be alirght.

5% on everything. Go big or go home!

Yes, its hard to see out of at night. Its also harder to see INTO at night. ;)

Tint is illegal on side windows here, but I don't get hassled much. Last time I got pulled over for it in the GN the cop told me the car was nice and to watch out for other cops who might give me a ticket. I was expecting worse, as this cop tailed me for 3 miles in town with me putting along because I was almost out of gas. Probably looked suspicious.

The upside to the dark tint as far as cops go is if you're not wearing your seatbelt you can put it on before you roll the window down, they can't see you.

IMO, a tint ticket is just BS, its one of those things they throw at you when they want to really fuk you over. Like illegal exhaust, slicks, headlight covers, etc. Like they get you for speeding but thats not enough so they get you for a bunch of small crap.

I've had 5% on every car I've had, I have a Dr.'s note saying I need it. Not hard to obtain at all. I get migrains, so its not a total lie. The way I see it, if I get pulled over and only get a tint ticket, I got off lucky. Theres probably 20 other "illegal" things they could get me on. Half these cops aren't up enough on stuff to even know. Altered bumper height is illegal here, but I know of hundreds of lowered/lifted trucks, never given a ticket.

Yea, the fine is crazy here. But what is even stranger is how the law is enforced. When it was re-written and came into effect in 05, there was a large push to write tickets. Cops were pulling over people at the state line! It has been somewhat close to a year now and it doesn't seem to be a big deal anymore (kind of like before). I guess it's just one of those things that the law can tag onto whever he pulls you over for.

Even stranger, in 01 I bought a 99 Montana extended version with fcty tint on all the windows except the front doors and windshield. I wanted to tint the front windows to match and it took 15% to do it. Also had a strip on the windshield that is 6" in the middle but quite past the legal mark on the outer edges. Haven't been stopped yet and passed many lawmen in that time. Go figure.

Forgot to add...I like the 15%. It's my preference and was going to do it to the GN, but am considering a different ammount with these laws now.

Im putting 20 on the side windows and quarter windows, and 5 on the back window, makes the 20 look a little darker on those side windows.

My Monte SS was 20 all around, 5 on ttops, looked pretty good.

My Ttype was 20 on sides and quarter windows, 5 on ttops and rear windows, and it looked really good!

Only hassled once in the Monte, "Is this legal tint?". Im pretty sure its 35 officer, I bought it this way............... seemed to work :D

the only way to ROLL 5% baby....

I think my first child was conceived behind the 5% tint that was on my '86 T-type... ;) I wonder who owns that car now!?!?!?

I now run 15% on both my '87 T's. The blue car has Johnson's ES-15 platinum film, and the gray car has the standard black tint.
