I've got a reds double pumper I want to install but when I got it there was no Hobbs switch or wiring to the front of car. My car already has the hot wire kit for a single pump. What would all be needed to hook up the new pump assembly. Would the single relay be enough for the 2 pumps?

unless your fuel system has been upgraded and return line increased as well as fuel regulator you dont want to run off the one relay because both pumps will be running and at idle the volume will overwhelm the stock setup (expect base fuel pressure to be over 55psi with both pumps on )

you want to run it staged and to do that use a hobbs so it only activates the second pump when its needed (usually above 12-15psi but depends on build and return line ability to keep the fuel pressure from spiking and the motors needs)
the hobbs alone is how red used to run them and they should be fine that way but ive tested a few that wouldnt provide full voltage until over 25psi even though contacts closed at 12psi, so run a relay which will take the load off the hobbs.

run a seperate 10ga wire from the second pump connection to the front of the car by the ps pump.
connect that wire to a 30Amp relay terminal 87, run terminal 30 of relay to alternator with 10gauge wire and inline fuse (25A). that covers the pump power in and out of relay
connect relay terminal 85 to ground (this is for the coil of relay).

for the control of relay it needs a staged switched 12v source ....
get a hobbs switch that has adjustment range to 12-15psi and can be setup N/O (normally open)..ebay has them cheap but i like the adjustable hobbs that has screw terminals to connect wires (napa balkamp line or racetronix).
if hobbs has more than two terminals run common leg of hobbs to 12v (can be switched or constant but you could connect with a spade terminal the fuel prime wire by alternator since that has no load anymore with hotwire on first pump)
run other side of hobbs (n/o terminal) to the relay terminal 86

connect hobbs to a manifold source ( tee into the emission canister at steel line feed behind alternator )
make sure the hose is in good shape and ziptied

Red's DP kit is set to come on at 7#....... Red's DP has been out since the mid-90's and guys were running in the high 9's with it and stock lines. I know... We have!!

You guys think two 255 walbro's and Alki would be good for 80lbers ? I don't think the 340's are needed.

the walbro GSS340m is a 255lph. if you're talking about the aeromotive 340 or the dw340 (300lph) you dont need twins with that pump for 80s

the single walbro340(255lph) is good to about 600hp but will be near its limit
single can go low 10s with alky (dual nozle razor) but your taking a gamble on delivery
below 10.7s its safer having the second pump there and running

im running twin walbro gss340s in all of my cars
on the 86 and 87 Ttop (good for over 130s) dual nozzles ,-8 feed lines and 83s ,
on the 87 gnxd 8an , 72s and single nozzle (would have no problem trapping mid 120s)

for low 10s im using around 70% inj duty (55lb hr per inj) ...too much to trust a single pump

Call Red at (440) 235-3232. You won't need a relay, just a hobbs switch and some wire.

I originally used an oil pressure switch for an 86-87 turbo Buick to activate a relay. I now use just the hobbs switch to send voltage to the second pump. It's worked well. Were any of the hobbs switches ,that you experienced problems with, the ones that Red provided with the doublepumper?

Thanks guys. Yes I was talking about the dw340 but ill go with the walbro pumps cause ill be getting dual alki also
