Wiring for RC fans heats up too much with A/C

About three weeks ago my fans stopped working. Found out that the wiring at the small connectors to the RC fans had burnt up. I made the repair but the wires are not able to take the fans running constantly when the A/C is on. The wires get very hot and I expect the same thing to happen again. When I initially wired everything up (remember this is a '84 so no factory relays/electric fan) I utilized 2 relays and fusible link on the pwr but this area with the connectors going to the fans seems to be a weak point. Im thinking the guage of wire needs to be thicker. Anyone else with the same issue?

Can you give more detail about how you wired your 2 relays and the gauge wire you used?

The only issue I had hooking it up to my 86 was the adapter they sold me. It put too much load on the factory low relay and ground wire. I had to adjust the wiring a bit and now all is fine.

I dont recall off the top of my head. I will have to take a look at it to see. Its been together for a couple years now with no problems at all. Recently I got my A/C going and after maybe a month the wires finally showed their fatigue

When they were selling the fans awhile ago werent they giving the TR adaptors with them? If so perhaps the connectors im talking about linking the fans to the car is the adaptor? (been too long I dont remember)

The wire on the adapter hardness is too small, you need to open up the hardness and redo the wiring with thicker guage wire. Putting relays will not fis the problem the problem is with the hardness.

Thanks, thats what I was thinking. Do you know where I can get more of the little pins for the wire that go in the connectors? Not too sure if the original ones will survive being transferred from the current wire to new. UNLESS, youve already done it this way successfully? Let me know. Thanks

I don't know where you can get new pins but there is lots available over or check casper's electronics. All you need to do is remove the old small gauge wire and resolder the larger size wire to the pins, those pins can handle enought current for the fans. I have done this and have no problems.
