Can anyone tell me what this plug and what looks like a relay is??? Upon wiring in my new gauges, I found a rats nest of wires that were going to nowhere, some of them "hot" with bare ends. The small orange wire is spliced to a wire running into the passenger compartment that is not hooked to anything. Should it be hooked up to something??

Appears to be a user added relay. The black wire is likely going to a ground. So that +12 volts on the orange wire activates the relay.

Trace out the two heavy read wires, that will tell you what it used to do.
