Won't shift into park?

Maybe somebody can help me figure out why it's doing this, All gears work very well..Its just when I stop the car to put in park lately, doesn't lock in, still rolls alittle. I kinda have to shift to other gears alittle and ram into park for it to lock in. Is this a worn out Transmission T.V cable or is it something in the console?

Linkage adjustment is off or something loosened up. Try to shift through the gears on the transmission with cable off to see if threes any binding in the trans but I'd bet its a linkage adjustment issue.

Check the clip that holds the shift cable to the transmission bracket. It may have come off or is loose. The plastic outer sheath on the shift cable could also be broken down at the transmission. bracket.

Your TV cable has nothing to do with locking into park, shifter linkage cable does. Safety first, block your tires, lift up your lifter plate to see the mechanical operation of the shifter going into the detent to make sure that you don't have a physical problem there. Jack your car, loosen up your shifter cable on the driver's side of the transmission, see if your shifter still has the same issue going into the detent. Tighten up the cable at the trans to see if the operation has been corrected, the transmission linkage on the transmission normally won't sit between gears. That should correct your problem. Hope this helps.

thx fellas for helping me out...The car is in park. I looked under the car driverside transmission area. I didn't jack it up yet, The safety brake is on. There's a nut that hold that cable in place at the trans(the cable looks old) than goes up to the console I believe, I wouldn't know how to adjust that. Maybe I should buy a new trans shifter cable and send it out to the shop to replace.

Sounds like you have an aftermarket shifter cable. A stock cable does not have an adjustment nut. It has a clip that holds it to the transmission bracket. Did you check it to see if it has come loose?

I took a good look at it today, It's not a aftermarket cable. But you were right, theirs clips that hold the ends on, there's no nut I must have been looking at the bracket or lever by the trans. Seems like it's all in place. Their's a alittle play but not sure. In the console, I have no glue. Maybe the cable needs to be replaced, I just ordered one, thx
