won't shift out of drive

87 gn stock , won't shift out of drive doesn't matter where the shifter is 1,2,d. reverse does work fine. never had pan off before, not a daily driver.

Was wondering if you were close to CT, I could have helped more.
But it does sound like a govenor valve body problem is the trans is fairly fresh

NO THERE HAS BEEN NO WORK DONE TO TRANNY. THE CAR HAS 30,000MILES ON IT. WAS DRIVING ONE DAY STOMPED ON IT ,SOME SMOKE CAME OUT THE BACK AND EVER SINCE ONLY WORKS IN DRIVE. IT TAKES OFF IN DRIVE NOT FIRST,SECOND,DRIVE JUST DRIVE.
