The main bearing studs look a little too small for the 300 ton crank :)

At a bennette auto supply down here by my house they have one of the valves out of one of those engines. the valve is about the size of one of those ribbon 'path' markers that you usually see at movie theators and what not.. thats what i thought it was at first, but shaped like a valve by some valve to be some sort of cute advertising campain and then the guy told me nope, thats a valve out of something like a cruise ship. i picked it up, looked at the bottom of it, and sure enough it had carbon build up on the bottom of it... thing was massive, over 3 feet tall, and the actual valve was probably 24" in diameter

I wonder how big is the turbo, How much boost, and what will this engine run in the 1/4:rolleyes: :D
 
Im currently going to school for caterpillar to become a tech. to work on thoes types of motors. its a whole new experence when you get to walk in a crank case:cool:
 
Seeing that certainly expanded my view on the world....Whew :eek:

I hope ELF doesn't see these pictures :eek: They'll be burning and spraypainting cruise ships....Maybe even USN ships ;)
