GNPCA Newsletter from 88 on the Last GN
The article in the May-June 88 issue is called The Last of the Best the final Grand National Produced and it was the last car the Pontiac Assembly plant produced. 5000 workers lost their job when it closed. The owner was a guy Named Robert A Colvin from 608 South Main Street,Springhill,Loisiana 71075. There's a copy of a letter signed by plant manager S.Maitland verifying it was, not only the last GN but final car built there. Picture of it on transporter to be delivered. The engine bears the names of all plant personnel that worked on it. Window sticker has date and time of 5pm , G-plant Pontiac,Michigan.
VIN 1G4GJ1179HP465288,PROD.DATE 12/11/87 . Uniqueness was they put a GN fender emblem on upper section of front header panel. They also say in this article that the car is supposed to go to Mr.Colvin's 4 yr old son when he is legal drivers age. All info was provided by Mr. Colvin,

Also have another old GNPCA News-letter that says when March-1989 rolls around we may all be competing with a pretty hot car the 20th aniv. Trans Am. GN owner's beware goes on talks about the different heads that they are like the Stage 2 heads used for normally aspirated series of blocks that the heads are smaller but flow better because of cylinder head port revisions . That they were still having problems with vibration, a host of dif engine mounts, dampning devices,were trying flexible exhaust couplings exhaust, that success was only about 90% but acceptable. They had to reinforce frame to gain structural rigidity because the Turbo V6 produced too much power for the standard uni body frame. Weight was 3400 compared to 3550 of the Regal, 190.3" vs. 200.6, 10hp increase cause of 3800 heads, larger rotors and 16" wheels, drag coeffient the lowest in the GM lineup,the high speed govenor was set at 160 vs.the 124 for the Regal.
