Has anyone on here wrapped their car. I'm curious to now how it looked, durability and cost?

If I was a betting man , I would say NO members on this board has had a TB wrapped. My company years ago about "10 years "wrapped 5 new vehicles out there fleet Depends on the graphics company about 2K per vehicle back then , they served the purpose very well in advertising ,very durable, how durable, 4 years later they traded them in for five more new vehicles, had the wrap removed $150.00 per. The paint finish after removal was flawless steal looked brand new. If you're asking why the company removed wrap. They received more per vehicle on trade in.

Wrapping a GN would be interesting.

Our body panels don't come off as easily as modern cars. There's a good chance you'll snap the nose just trying to remove it. Pulling the fenders and putting them back involves shimming. It'd be a mess.

But beyond that, if the underlying paint is clean and waxed, a wrap is going to behave like it does on any other car.

The wrapping company that my employer used , no body parts were removed it was done by 3D graphics laser print. All they do is type the year, model, make and your wrap print design and type in some codes and the magic starts .Stamping out fenders doors, and etc.

I didn't realize the body needed to be painted. My car needs a paint job, just curious

I don't see why they couldn't wrap a primer vehicle. Definitely would save you money. I have just never heard or seen it done .

I'm sure it could be done, but don't forget, they can't do the door jambs, hinges, the underside of the trunk, trunk sill, etc.

All that would either need to be cut in with paint before you have the wrap installed, or it will look like it does now.

i would figure the retail cost for a base wrap on a GN would be between $6500 and $8000.

We just did a white Jaguar XKR-S in matte black (ho hum, that shit is so worn out..). Looked great, until you opened the doors, lifted the bonnet or opened the boot. Then it just looked stupid. The guy paid $8500.

In addition to the above, if your car is in primer, that primer surface would need to be sealed, blocked and be perfectly smooth. The wrap material will exacerbate and magnify any little imperfection you have in the surface. In addition, when/if you go to remove it, be ready for the removal to pull that sealed primer right off the car down to metal.

I'm just trying to shoot you the straight truth here. Just like Paintless Dent Removal, wrapping a car is an art, not everyone out there claiming to be able to do it, can do it right.

Attached is the finished product we did on a Porsche GT2 RSR. the guy tacks thios car and wanted EVERY SINGLE OUTER INCH of the car wrapped with matte finish Paint Protection Film............. I won't even say how much he paid for it. It took us almost 3 weeks to complete the job.

LOTs of exotics get wrapped with a clear material. XPEL . Have it on the spats, lower front end and behind the tires on my Cobra. Guy went to the body shop to do mine. One day I took a ride to his shop. 15/20 BIG $$$$ cars getting a complete wrap. cant imagine what it cost. I wanted to do on on my Mazda. Never got around to it.

For the price I'll put it towards a nice paint job someday. Might see it they can do a coronavirus mask for me though.

Friend of mine does everything his shop is full of lambos ,trucks ect here’s mine just had it done. Now it’s a race car that gets the shit beat out of it so to me it’s better than paint. I screw something up I rip it off and fix it. I also tried something and put my shop sticker under the wrap along with others that have helped me along the way usually cost around 3000-3500 depending on the wrap

Nat, can it be applied over primer?

Yes mine was primed but you have to prep it like it’s going to be painted. You can see sanding scratches through the wrap so make sure you get the primer flat with 600 grit and scotch Brite pads
