What the is that thing on the exhaust side of the turbo with the cap? Does anyone actually run something like that?

It's a "jersey dump", where you uncap at the elbow instead of down where a testpipe would be. Most of the ones I've seen point DOWN though not sideways.

I used to have a dump like that,there is a curve short pipe that bolts on there.

2 years ago I found a wrecked 87 GN.The kid that wrecked it got DUI.He needed $1500 to pay his fines and pay off the engine shop,he just had $1500 of work done to the car 3 days before he wrecked it.He was getting desperate.So I gave him $1500 for it.That was a steal.
