My 87 GN has been sitting in my garage since 2008 with a blown engine, the car is rough and probably should have been parted out but I’ve held onto it all these years. I don’t know if pulling the engine and building right is in the budget, at this point I would be happy with just getting it back on the road and driving it. Does anyone have a GN long block that might have higher mileage but still plenty of life left for somewhere in the ballpark of $1500-$3000 near south jersey. Thanks Mike 856-364-0035

I’ve also checked with BMW breakers Sheffield for parts to see if any useful components are available. Hey Mike, Finding a GN long block in your price range is possible, especially if you’re okay with higher mileage. I’d start by checking local classifieds, TurboBuick.com forums, Facebook car groups, and Craigslist for South Jersey sellers. Sometimes people part out these cars and sell the engine separately for $1,500–$3,000. Another option is looking for a remanufactured or used long block from a parts supplier, which may be slightly more expensive but gives more reliability. If you’re not rebuilding, make sure to inspect the engine for obvious damage and leaks before buying. It’s definitely doable to get your GN back on the road without a full rebuild.

Or the OP can find a NA 109 block & make the hole for the oil drain back line. Another way to save some duckets.
