Putting this out there....

I'm looking to trade my Cotton's FMIC for a quality stretch SLIC. Ideally, I'd like a Mease INTTR1 MPE Racing Fabrication - Turbo Buick Intercoolers intercooler in a straight up trade, but I figure these are as rare as hen's teeth. I'd also consider a PTE Precision Turbo & Engine - Turbocharger, Intercooler, Fuel Injector, Performance Parts & more! or GBodyParts GBodyParts.com Online stock location stretch intercooler with a little bit of cash. Another consideration would be a CAS V4 with some cash. Amount of cash included in the deal is to be determined/negotiated. I'm not interested in an old-school stock intercooler and a half and the like. I'm only interested in new core technology made CONUS. My Cotton's FMIC is in excellent condition and the trade would include all pipes (up-pipe is drilled for alky nozzle), hose couplers, clamps and misc. mounting hardware. Likewise, I'll need the associated mounting hardware/brackets, up-pipe, hoses, clamps, etc. for the SLIC. I'll only accept a SLIC of equal (or better ) condition/quality than my Cotton's. There's nothing wrong with my Cotton's FMIC. It's just too much for my combo and I hate the super-loud turbo farting noise I get with it when letting off the throttle. BTW, I NEVER had a radiator cooling issue with the front mount.

I'd also be willing to sell my Cotton's front mount intercooler outright for $850 + shipping.

I can take a picture of the Cotton's if you're interested, but it's on the car and the pictures won't show too much. Here's a shot of it when I was installing it two years ago.

Bgc?

I have a BGC stetched I/C with shroud and mounting brackets, it is on my car now. If interested, let me know at...clusolynn@excite.com or call 386-719-6814. I also have some other parts IE: 43# inj with Commander chip, stock MAF etc. Thanks, John Lynn:cool:

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but my understanding is that a front mount intercooler of ANY manufacture, not just Cotton's, shouldn't have anything to do with the noise you are hearing when you let off the throttle. This is the pressure in the piping on the inlet side of the turbo "snorting" its way back out through the air filter. Again, I am open to correction, but my car clearly made this noise before I ever went to a front mount. I also don't undertsand why you think it's too much for that ta49. I used almost that exact turbo when I had my cas v2 front mount years ago and it worked great. If cooling isn't an issue where you live I am just curious why you are concerned?

My stock intercooler made this noise too. I don't have a scientific explanation, but all I know is when I switched to the front mount, this noise now occurs at all levels of boost...even if I let off at 1psi it's louder than the stocker at 15psi. Who knows, maybe I'm imagining things. My only thought was the huge volume of air now between the turbo and the throttle blade is somehow exasperating the problem.

The Cotton's intercooler is working fabulous in terms of cooling the charged air and it has not adversely affected the function of my radiator as far as I can tell. I was just thinking if I could get the same performance results with a quality stock location intercooler without the snorting, someone else may be able to take better advantage of what the front mount has to offer. If I'm lucky, I get to the track twice a season these years.

BTW, I also did have a surging problem that occured ~10psi, but believe it or not, the "tornado" took care of that.

this is known as turbo flutter and it becuase we do not use blow off valves! In stock i/c trim there is not alot of piping and the i/c is not that big so there is not alot of area for the pressre so there is not to much turbo flutter. When you have a big front mount and or a bigger turbo and bigger pipes there is more area of pressure so when you let off the gas all that volume of pressure passes back throught the turbo as flutter.Well acutally the flutter is your turbo tring to stop and reverse rotation that is the flutter sound. This condition is really not to good for the turbo thats why alot of guys add a blow of valve to there up-pipe to eliminate this condition!

I have a brand new BGC 24 row with large neck and custom mounts that he uses on his 24 row( which utilizes the water pump bolts for a stronger mount plus sits as high as possible in the engine compatment for maximun ground clearance) also black powder coated adjustable shroud-i have $1100. into this stock location intercooler -would entertain a trade.
